I cannot vote but I'd like to support tux9th, mostly because he is from Europe.

Travolta.

As some others have already done i would like to add my support for the nomination of tux9th as GM even though i don't have enough posts on the forum for participating in the poll.

Also 60 votes needed? Are there really that many active users on the forums?

Good luck tux9th!

I also don't have 60 posts, I'm another relatively new player since I have been only 2-3 months old. But if my opinion matters, I totally am for tux being a GM.

He's one of the most friendly players I can think of, in my personal experience, and has helped me alot when I started out, when I randomly bumped into him. So from a "newbie's" perspective, he makes a more than enough suitable candidate for the position.

So, a wholehearted yes from me :)

You only need 20 posts to be able to vote (no spam though :) )

Unfortunately you're a little too late, there were a topic called "Spam yourself to 20 posts" some time ago.

While everyone is free to vote for whatever reason they choose, supporting someone due to their location/nationality does nothing to assure others that the person will be a good GM. GMs in other locations would be ideal, but in my opinion it is much more important to focus on each person nominated's suitability for the role. If you are voting for/supporting someone in a poll like this, you will help their cause much more by stating their good responsible qualities, rather than their location :P.

That said, good luck tux :).

He proclaims the greatness of Linux but doesn't use Slackware therefore I must vote no. Tux, your persuasive arguments will be heard until the poll is closed.

For all who have not 20 posts:

No need to spam just feel free to give your own opinion it will help as said Nard :)

I believe tux9th has all qualities to be a good GM. I just wrote my main reason because his good qualities were already mentioned before, and I really feel lack of GM presense at daytime (for me). Also it's annoying when I see Villain or Bombe botting, and no GM around to ban them.

I have a feeling that Yubaba and mrgrey think they are part of some GM elite players group, and they do everything to not let others to join it. If you had conflicts with tux9th as a developer, it does not mean he will be a bad GM. All GMs are just players and even the current GMs are not perfect. With tux9th the GM team will acquire a valuable member.

rumly111/Travolta: First of all, Yubaba is not a GM. If you had read other active topics recently, you might have seen that I've been suggesting that the required votes for new GMs be lowered so it is still fair and possible. If anything, I want more people to pass these polls - we could really use new GMs. I just don't support pushing for one because they are in a certain timezone - a person's location says absolutely nothing of how they will handle using authority.

I also did not post saying that tux should not be a GM - I posted with a suggestion of how your posts can get him more votes. It's interesting that you'd rather believe there is some "GM elite" conspiracy, than the possibility that people could have legitimate reasons for voting no, though.

Amusingly enough, every time I have checked Villain or Bombe, they have always answered me.

Just because somebody points out faults in someone to why they voted no it doesn't mean they're part of a "group". I'm not a GM if you haven't noticed, I'm a developer. I voted no because I seen these faults on IRC and don't believe they're a good thing to possess while being a GM. This is why most people don't write their opinions to why they vote no, because others look at them like they're trying to form something which is just plain wrong and then people wonder why people don't post why they voted no... This is a thread for tux and why he would be a good/bad GM not your opinions on me and mistergrey.

Narus wrote:Why I voted yes:

- I like his attitude to the game, he want to help and he is good at it. He seems a nice person and I never saw him being rude to others just the opposite. If he get elected and choose to contribute he can do it even as a GM, MrGrey is also learning and contributing and he is a GM, he cannot be a developer while he is a GM but he can contribute as much as he want to. So that is not an objection in his case, tux WAS a dev. he is not one right now so there is not problem on that.
- We need an European or Asian GM to cover a different time zone and he happens to fill that. We are 3 active GM in game right now and we are all in about the same time zones.
- He speak German and English so another bilingual GM is also a great addition. (If only we find a Portuguese/Brazilian GM I would be even more happy)

Good luck tux :)
Maybe Players who would be happy to have an European (or Asian or GMT+8-10) GM could not say it better.

It's fine to support a GM candidate from an area that is preferable to you. But, if that is all you talk about as a reason here, it does not say a single thing about whether that person will make a suitable GM. That is why I try to get people to talk about Why they would make a good GM, rather than choosing because of their location.
