Unlocked by request, as Platyna no longer has the last word.

I think after the server move this is free to be discussed again. Could the GHP consider dropping this rule?

platynas rule although not fair in my opinion is absolutely necessary. devs should not be gms. no one person should ever receive that much power.

Beeing a dev and gm at the same time does not really give you a lot more power. Also the person has to be trustful anyway. Otherwise he would never get the power of a gm or a dev. If there are doubts that a person might abuse the power the person should not get any extra powers anyway.
So I do not think this an issue.

"The body is still warm, the eyes not yet fully closed, but they already tear, tear what he had, and keep to themself."
Translation from Polish so it may be quite lame, but very true. Server was moved and I got kicked out TMW management like TODAY and the fight for power begun just hours after it. I am not suprised as it was the original reason to get rid of me.
Regards.

Well i think stuff like this using of your power to enforce rules like this against the will of the GHP were also reasons for a server move. But I am not in the GHP so i have no idea and will leave it to the GHP to comment.

While I don't see any issue regarding "power" from being Dev and Gm at the same time, there's a time constraint to consider.
We all have limited time to give to TMW. Unless you're doing TMW for a living, I don't see how you can _efficiently_ be all of a Dev, a GM, and a player at the same time.
Being an active player and a dev is already too much for me.

Well in the case of tux9th it was a bit different. He was not actively developing that that time. But the rule seemed to define old devs as devs --> no GM possible.

Totally agreed that you should be able to resign. But then such resign has to be very clear -- both in words and acts.

Thanks o11c. You keep providing proof of the real reason behind this move.

"If Elven changes the DNS back there will be NO new content updates" - a cite from o11c, yes, the real reason is getting from obvious to very obvious.
ElvenProgrammer, Bjorn, any comment?

You're not paying me.
If I don't like the environment that you provide, there is nothing that stops me from leaving.

As I already told you in game - as far as I know a developer to develop needs the SSH access to modify files, a compiler, libs and a decent network connectivity as well as freedom to develop - I have provided all of it.
A developer doesn't need TMW forum admin rights, nor full GM priviledges on the game server, which you just set for yourself therefore I just did not provided possibility to hold extra powers.
This quote clearly shows what you are really up to, and what kind of person you are and what is a major difference between you and me.
When I went into a disagreement with the game admins, and I left for a while, I didn't kicked them off the team, and I still hosted TMW - because the project was more important than my personal relations to someone - this is what we call being adult and responsible.
If you can't work for a project you don't fully control, because an environment you do not fully control is "unfriendly" then it is a your problem with yourself, and this is a problem which basicaly disqualifies you as a leader.
Regards.

at this time, there will be no adjustment to this rule. perhaps in the future it will be addressed again. this thread has gone far afield of its topic
