Sure they can, as long as they can drop-steal/pick up abandoned items that have total resale value of 100000.

Come to think of it, they even get up to eight shots to take out silkworms and herb plants to pick up their drops (hopefully with the intention of selling them on the secondary market...)

Only if someone gives it to you. A level 1 character can't get one all on their own.

and herbs/silkworms give you exp, after few of them you'll come to lvl 2.

Which is why I said you get "up to eight shots". The 9th kill gets you a level up.

That depends on what you're fighting.

That's why I also specified silkworms/herbs, enemies that give off just 1 xp. Any other enemies couldn't even fit a single specimen under the L1 cap (at least barring contributions from someone else to take all but 1-2 of their HP).
