No, I meant the person who made those graphics originally should make graphics for WoA and PP. Of course, they mightn't even exist anymore, and how would you find them if they did?

~regardless of that, both tilesets are great... make sure you view both pages of that source image link because there are plenty updated versions including bridges and all sorts...

The two lead developers for Whispers of Avalon were Len and I. Currently the development is on hold because Len is having problems with his computer and has lost interest. I think it's a terrible shame because I was enjoying designing the game and he was very enthusiastic.

I think more interest in WoA could maybe help it get off its feet again, but without Len the project wouldn't be the same - it was characterised by his graphics and was originally his idea after all!

Your ideas for Project Plum sound interesting. WoA takes rather a different approach to equipment, treating armour and weapons more like abstractions that actual items.

Is that green haired kid the same one who's under water north of Hurnscald (on the cliffs)?

I hope that some people who are good at developing games get in there to help you out, I would love to play your concept! Let us know if/when you ever get a beta going.

“Also, len, if it had a graphics style similar to yours, because I REALLY like that, we could share, eh?
Enchilado”
I would enjoy that also, so long as it is truly symbiotic…
Also I would be happy to welcome any floor plans or concepts you send my way.
“No, I meant the person who made those graphics originally should make graphics for WoA and PP. Of course, they mightn't even exist anymore, and how would you find them if they did?”
I actually emailed him not long ago
“I love this idea, I think the graphics look pretty good!
Anyway can I help? I can't really do much though.”
Advise, suggestions, concept art good or bad, ect

Hurrah! Okay, you need a plan of attack, an order in which to do things. This will speed up content development IMO.
  • Finish playerset.
  • Finish one tileset (which is unimportant)
  • Map a small area.
  • Start server with just one map.
  • Add a monster.
  • Make a start NPC, one simple quest and a resurrection place (eg Soul Menhir)
  • Make more tilesets
  • Add more maps around central one
  • Add more monsters
  • Add more NPCs
  • Once the game is playable, people will begin to play. Now code the classes.
  • Release the classes.
  • Make the rest of the tilesets you think you'll need.
  • Map the entire world.
  • Choose at least 3 monsters per map and make and add these.
  • Think of at least 1 quest per map and make and add these.
  • Code new skills, if desired.
  • The game is now perfectly playable. Continue making monsters and quests.

I wrote this as I went in about 30 seconds, it needs some rearranging. I'm interested in this project and I'd like to help. In a rush ATM though.

The usual Korean horde at your disposal might be nice.

Create something playable.

People will not take you serious before you have it. The net is full of "ZOMG i am making a game and it will be awesome!" kids who have no skills themself and no idea about the scope of such a project and will abandone it in a few weeks.

I know you are none of these, but potential contributors who are afraid of wasting their time on such kiddies don't.

But when you already have something playable, even when it is just a contentless tech demo, people will see that you indeed have the technical means to make it possible.

As for tech, they were (and probably still are) planning on using tmw/tmwserv.

I meant to point that out. Notice the first things on my list involve putting together a small world. Anyway, the content in the first playable server should be of the best quality, even if there isn't much of it. Quality over quantity.

A branch I designed a lot of ages ago (and still want to make someday) was to have Life Insurance Agents. To save your position costs money, but after that it's free to respawn there. Hard-to-get-to places would have more expensive LIAs.

~'course, that doesn't quite fit the style of WoA...

Could you be so nice and make similar crystal - but a bit larger - for new lighthouse. If not, I will do my own - but I know for sure that mine will be not so pretty as yours. I want to embed it at the top of lighthouse and integrate with spiral construction - like ivy or something.

(Sorry for off topic, but I do admire your work. And that thing you ask me on PM - I will try.)

So basically the same as Eve Online. Nah I think for WoA just the bog standard home-town spawn point will do.
