Are you expecting C&C or so? :)

By posting it here you actually killed my students. Very nice Len, very nice.

Btw Balthazaar: not nice.
Fine, I'll do more than just showoff
Image
You'll notice that cracks are more than just lines that go through an object they also tend (not always) to disrupt the planes(the surface of the object) of that object so its no longer flat.
Image they can also create little island of
material as they spider vain outward.

Examples in my pixel art

The cranks still feel as if they go all the way through, but the rest of the object seems a little untouched for small cracks to cause that sort of damage. rain and wind wouldn't damage a object that way, so it looks fake

I don't actually show any of my cracks making it all the way through the objects, rather I have them flaking off layers of the object

yes, the art is beautiful and yet i did not like it. So I took a closer look.
Len sorry before hand if these are annoying to point out.

marked in red would be things annoying to have in tiles right next to each other in a tile set and marked in blue are where textures are flip-horizontal variants which can also count as repetitive.

You are correct it is mirrored (and still requires some work)..
I don't think Len killed anyone, in fact, it's admiring Len's and irukard's tilesets that made me want to learn pixeling. Looking at how the pros do it, "wow, i'd really like to be able to do that", it's encouraging... To me at least.
I don't think I'm worthy of being called a pro (intermediate at best)

As I'm learning quite a few different aspects of pixel art. Not to mention the programs as well. I combined a lot of different things in this one image I know it's a little over the top  compared with the original concept. Less is always more and I would have restarted from scratch to make it look more like only large stones (stonehenge for ex) and loose the brick like rocks. I also would have redone the floral pattern to make it look cleaner as mine pretty much sucks. But I did want to finish it at least. :P

There's ether to much texture on top or not enough on the bottom. Looks awesome other than that.

biggest problem is the brightly over saturated orange specks

Thanks Len I thought the pixels might be a little brite as well I know how to desaturate just the oranges in photoshop but couldn't figure out how to in gimp (it would affect all the colors instead of only the ones I wanted). I like what you did with the cracks very nice I will remember that technique when I make cracks in the future. Much respect to your skills.

Meway thanks for the help and input on the calligraphy floral pattern I will probably start from scratch if I work on it more since I agree the pattern is very crude and drawn looking. Thanks again for the input and help.

I don't know a lot about Gimp, but I would use the Select By Colour tool to select the oranges, and then adjust the Contrast etc.

yea no problem I like to help any time I can.

Also to add to ivy, its the tool that looks like a hand in most cases and has 3 colored squares in a little tiny box in the tool bar. I am also inexperience with gimp all the work you see of mine is made with paint (not recommended). The only thing you see made with gimp is transparency in the image sometimes I forget though.

I can use Gimp very well, I just thought there might be a tool I hadn't heard of :)
