I recently lost my video card and was reduced to using a S3 Virge  I'm thankful however because it prompted me to scrap my windtento and put Linux back on my system. I started thinking about 2d games I could play.. And I thought how cool it would be to have something like SoM in a online form. I started searching around and here it was.

I just found this game a few days ago but already I love the potentual. I hope to be able to find a way to help out though consistency is not my forte between my work and family. This is definitely an awesome project and I hope to be a part of it in some form or another for a long time to come.

I can't believe I never posted in this thread.
Well anyway here's my story:

One day I got bored of all those click based MMORPGs out there and decided to look for something different. After searching the internet and failed I decided to listen to one of my catch phrases: "If you want something done right, do it yourself." So I tried making an MMORPG based on my favorite game of all time: Secret of Mana. So, with a couple of my friends who know some stuff about computers we decided to start. After many failed attempts (due to none of us having any programming skills and me the only spriter) we decided to quit. About 6-12 months later I started to search the internet for a real-time action MMORPG. I soon came across Elven's "Final RPG Project" (or whatever) which was an attempt at making an online Secret of Mana game. From that site I found a link to TMW and was amazed that there was someone actually attempting to make an SOM online type game. After browsing through TMW's progress I noticed a spriter named "neoriceisgood." I knew of this person from another online game and knew how good they were at spriting. To make a long story short: I decided to help out with a few sprites and soon joined the team. :)

i heard about this project in a very early development stage where it still used ripped SoM sprites and tiles. I took a look and said to myself "what a crap. they won't last for a month. then the projekt will die. and even when they last longer they will be sued by squaresoft".

about a year later i wondered what happened to the project. i googled for it and to my surprise it was still alive and all the SoM sprites were replaced by custom ones. i testplayed it and said to myself "well, i was wrong. this game could really make it". first i wanted to help with programming, but a) i had a lot of problems with compiling the sourcecode, b) i thought it would be better to get more familiar with the project before i start with messing with the source and c) i felt that what the project needed wasn't another programmer but some new tiles to get it out of the dull desert. so i started to make my woodland tileset. the first tiles were awful, but over the time i developed a lot and i think what i made now is much better than the crap most other amateur mmorpg's are using to insult the eyes of their players.
