very nice but could be simplified to use way fewer colors

ty Kage..so do you think the snow-style is good? I ask you 'couse I'm going to cover all other snow-related projects with it, (for example the new Snow Docks requested by Jaxad)..and I don't want to waste my time..

I want just dev's opinions..

Francesco
Well to be honest I don't know much about art, but I think the snow covered trees look incredible. This doesn't necessary mean they are technically correct though.

Personally I think they fit into the game nicely though.

@ Len:

lol I was reducing the colours in the same manner ;)..that is the perfect opposite method I used to make the gradient more soft..I started drawing the stripes (similar to yours) and then I've started smoothing them pixeling ARGHH!! what a waste of time!! :D..

but at the end I have a good example of snow layer..now I can start from it to develop other snowy tiles ;)..

Len now I'll apply the less-colour style you show to the whole tree..see you later!!

Ok..here the less-colour version of the snow-pine and its comparison with the previous version..

it fits perfectly with snow-ground, snow-slimes, etc..

first shot of another snowy-tree, (it has to be optimized)..now I'll work on the snow-dock project proposed by Jaxad as [REQ]..

hal9000 wrote:ok I've updated the Prototype 002:

- snow on the trunk (a little for good realism);
- little cromatic improvements;
- the edge of the image has some alfa-pixels to best fit on all kind of grounds.

Only an observation..are you sure that the snow on the trunk couldn't be repetitive when observed on 30 forest trees? (don't know)

Now I'll work on Len's pine..

Francesco
Easy to fix, make 3 or 4 variations of the same trunk with different snow patterns, so the mapper will deal with it, also leave one with no snow so we have good variety.

Now this may be a challenge but why don't you try a cluster of trees maybe a 128x68 or 128x128 full of trees that can be tileable means when the are put together you don't notice where is the beginning and end of the tile. Consider wild forest are not gardens of equal spaced trees.

Any objections to the trees in this thread being added?

I'm not quite sure, but you should check perspective first.
