Player DallasDean has been banned for botting. As this appears to be the first offense this player may request a reset. Please contact a GM in-game for that.

Hi, I'm here to request that my character not be reset, and the ban be lifted from my character. It was not a bot, it was my wife(bless her heart) trying to get me to the next level.

You don't respond to a GM, then all we can assume is AFK activity, which is banable.

She was definitely AFK, but she didn't know it was against the rules.
Dallas
edit: Technically, I guess she wasn't AFK, she was just using another program while not paying attention to my game.
edit2: Also, I am confused. At the top of this page, it says that I should contact a GM in-game, but I am banned, so I can't login. Am I misunderstanding?

Ignorance of the rules isn't an excuse.

I disagree, I think it is an excuse. I think it is one that merits a second chance. But I guess that's not up to me to decide.

How do we know who is ignorant and who isn't? How do we know who is AFK and who is just looking elsewhere for 2(!) minutes? We can't possibly know.

I understand that it is a difficult choice to make. But that is what a judge does, they take in the evidence, and then make the hard decision.
I am not asking to be exempt from the rules. But since someone else was breaking the rules(which I did not ask her to do), I am appealing the judge(s) in this situation.
I understand that botting ruins the game for others, and that the GMs have a difficult task in rooting out advanced bots. But I would also like them to think of what it would feel like to lose something that you put so many hours into, and it all happened while you were at work.
It's like a fire.
I knew I should have gotten suspected-botting insurance.

Every judge in every jurisdiction I ever heard of follows the principle "Ignorantia iuris nocet" (not knowing the law does not protect from punishment).

You can always politely ask you beloved wife to level up your new fresh character ;)
Oh wait! Lending your game account is also against rules... hmm or maybe not ;)

This proves the lack of wisdom in handing your character over to someone without filling them in on the rules of good conduct.

Interesting. Not only is your wife unaware of the rules, she's also able to continuing focusing on monsters when the entire area changed around her changed, displaying the words "Bot Check Zone" in the background. Perhaps it was really only a few weights on the keyboard all this time?
Be a man: take your punishment and stop putzing around with the administration.

As Katze said - create a new account to contact one of us in-game.
This is not a discussion forum.
Topic is now locked.

If we took the word of every player that got banned and accepted their excuses as the truth, then no one would ever be banned.
You may have your character reset (lvl 1) and go on your way, that IS your second chance.
If you wish for this to be the case, please PM either Tiana or Myself and we can arrange it to happen.
