reasons to quit tmw

reasons:
- gamedevelopment is to slow and new content is often junk (e.g. green apples...)
- player are childish, unpolite, greedy and annoying
- capitalism is above friendship, communication and fun
- forums are full of spamming and trolls
- 95% of spammer, scammer and botter are still breaking rules
- grindin' to lvl 99 is boring and timewasting
- admin sucks
sry, but TMW is not fun anymore. I remember times like '08 where everybody was nice and friendly...sadly the people from the past don't play anymore^^
edit: and dont tell me crap like "dont cry abot dev' , go and work on it to improve tmw. 95% of the started stuff here like graphics and quets which was made from people who TRIED to help with development was never seen ingame

So you want more unfinished and poorly thought content into the game so it gets into the game faster?

TMW went "meh" after 2005. Mostly because of the ebnrs.

Hi Matt ^^,
Mostly because of the ebnrs.

What is a ebnr? (Even if I think I got the idea, I'd like to know.)

I've been asking for fascist forum rules. I think it would clear up distractions.
As for ingame interactions, see my Weekly Rest Day post. Stop eA for 1 day a week, peeps can detach or help out.
Seriousness is virtue to making sure people aren't working in vain.
For things not seen in game, they weren't finished or are waiting to be shipped with CR1.
See ya.

I know theres alot of stuff around which you already said but I've seen some good stuff too like the things from salva or whatever the nickname was.
Funny after this threadopening some people asked me to receive my ineventory and money. As I said, all that matters here is to have a high level and lots of rare hats. Poor...I wonder if there are still people playing
just for fun

absolutely not helping.
Stava has posted great pixel art. But they are not finished. One showcase frame of armor isn't enough to go in game. There needs to be 72 frames of armor excluding the unfinished playerset frames.
Tauran --> It either needs to be developed or it will work as a concept for later.
Giant Squid --> Needs its own topic. there's only 1 frame, even that might have been a concept.
Graphics development should just take place in an invisible backroom since these out of context perceptions will take place.
As for people wanting your items: It's a damn game.
Stop being a bombastic troll.

Stava is working on player set so can't do equipment for now.
Tauren will be done after player set. (It will take time)
Giant squid will never be done.

Why such an overreaction?
Anyway, he was not referring to stava here.
But yes, you do have a point: 2-3 frames of something only warrants us to use it as an NPC, not much else.
This thread has also gotten way out of hand and the original intention of it has been lost.

The Mana World will change. It will drastically change. You can bet that it will change. Everyone has been trying hard to push it into it's next phase, the CRs.
I've played other MMORPGs, in the beginning they started out similar: buggy, minimal, boring, and simple graphics with prototypical monsters with ideas borrowed from other sources. But over time I noticed the graphic artists getting better and better as they expanded content, until they were like unto the gods themselves.
This process takes about 7-10 years.
It takes about 10 years or 10,000 hours of effort to master arts and engineering. Even some of your favorite 2D cartoons, with each new season you could see how the animators got more and more skilled.
Webcomics! (aside from simple and elegant ones like XKCD) you can go back into their archives to when the author was first starting and see how much their style has changed as skills were learned!
The Mana World is in development. Bad things are always easy to find. Please don't see the bad. See all the
good that can be done. TMW has defied the odds already, operating with zero revenue. Our GPL friend, Wesnoth, keeps a donation button handy and offers advertisers spots on their website to gain exposure, I assume that helps pays their hosting fees.
The Mana World is very lucky to have free hosting courtesy of Platinum. Other forks have had to endure needing to find a home, and then suffer out of just not having the resources.
Regular contributors like Axltrozz, Bertram, Len, Irukard, John P, and the others should put a "Donate" button in their signature block. Manasource and Platinum take donations, it just isn't on their home pages. If I weren't dirt poor and at the brink of homelessness I'd give very generously.
Consider what I've said. Consider TMW will drastically improve. Be positive. Those who cop a negative attitude are scaring away contributors with FUD.
THINK: When TMW is one of the best games out there, you'll be able to say "I've been playing since pre-alpha

"

I still play every so often...level 98 atm.
The game came to a screeching halt of fun when a series of changes happened and players were asked to wait for game balance to be fixed.
It certainly was not fixed to my satisfaction, my opinion was mirrored by many others, some still play.
Players have been asked to wait for new server for a very long time, ok fine...let the waiting begin again.
I have created content for tmw, I helped with Halloween and Christmas events, I plan to contribute more in the future.
so I am not just bitching and not contributing.
tmw has always been a serious attempt to make a ragnorok-clone, the dev team admits failure and works on a new base.
Fun lack of fun, best reason to quit.
Its not a question of content, it is a question of developers, the mana world currently has none, except in name, no disrespect intended.
I hope this changes and some qualified person is put in charge of content for tmw eathena game, it needs to happen.
Kage and or Freeyorp could be entrusted with more power, this might help, Jaxad0127 is very capable, but not on platinum IRC channels so?
All work on CR1, this makes tmw-eAthena virtual abandon-ware, but all is not gloomy, CR1 will be good someday and many other eAthena versions will survive.
I am a fan of eAthena, even our old crappy version, these versions have a future and much of the player base has already migrated to them or just moved on.

False. TMW is not cloning any game and is only vaguely influenced by games like RO and SoM.

? The only thing it should be influenced by was planned to be SoM, TMW 0.0.x is like RO because Elven decided to use eAthena until TMWServ was finished.
Just look at the early forum posts, SoM-like tilesets, SoM-like ring menu, etc, etc.
But as more people started supporting the project its goal shifted away from being a online version of SoM to just have Mana in the name - that's why many good people left.

TMW-eA is just a non-designed RO permanovice server with the RO ruleset from 2004.
