Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
I believe that the game play will suffer from people acting as bank or Pawn shop in the game.
One example a player proposed interest on loaning money 30% interest.
For a minute i thought its was an NPC but its outrageous what's the point of getting filthy rich in the game.
I believe it will discourage players to ask for help or to want to play the game at all.
I am trying to encourage players by helping Nooby but if they will be praied on by some trading practice how far will this go.
Seriously its a game why would you want to feel like other people are taking advantage of u while playing, its simply wrong.

This is not a case of abuse... please move this thread to player talk.
Secondly, if you have money / items, you are free to do with them what you want.
While you can technically loan money with a interest rate on it, at the same time you have the risk of them never paying you back.
Them not paying you back is not consider abuse either, as far as the game is concerned, you gave them that money.
Its not out of the question of implementing a loaning system on ManaServ, where the game engine will ensure that items you loan will be returned to you after so long.

How far do you think enforcement will go?
Lets say that you make an official way to do it. With server software.
You still think that people that need a large amount of money quickly are going to just the official way?
But ignoring that.
Player 1 needs money. Player 2 has money. Server allows official loaning between players.
player 1 and 2 use the official method to borrow money, with a good and just interest rate.
So player 2 loans player 1 10kk.
Player one logs on player 3. Trades player 3 the 10kk. Then deletes player 1.
Now what is player 2 going to do? He nor the computer knows of player 3. So he is out the 10kk, using offical software.
Now lets look at items
player 1, 2, 3 are at it again. 1 has a hat that 2 wants to borrow. 1 uses the software to lend the hat to number 2. Number 2 then sells the hat to number 3 for the 10kk.
Now what happens? Do you track the hat and then take it back from player 3 at the time. Then do you track player 2's 10kk to give it back to player 3.
This would become such a programing and logical nightmare, only one solution is possible.
If you can not afford it, do not buy it.
If you lend money, do so like you are giving it away.
If you are borrowing money, do so like you are receiving a gift.
If people want to scam, then let them.
It is not it is hard to get money. A person could have 10kk in 3 days if they wanted to. Money is easy to get now.

Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
The plan on Manaserv is to have unique items which exist only once on the server. These could theoretically be found in an instant no matter who has them. When they are leased they could be tagged as such so that you can not trade them.

Please do not send me any inquiries regarding player accounts on TMW.
You might have heard a certain rumor about me. This rumor is completely false. You might also have heard the other rumor about me. This rumor is 100% accurate.
Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
Pawn shops might work, lets say player 1 needs for what every 10kk but has 2 rare hats with a slightly higher value. Since he doesn't wants to sell them he would pawn them to player 2 for 10kk. Once Players 1 has rearned his 10kk + interest he would get the hats back from players 2.
That way I have already lend money to other players and never had a problem that someone tryed to cheat me.(even with 0% interest)

Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
lending / borrowing money or items of value only works between players who trust each other anyway.
I already borrowed items like top hat, mushroomhat, bought my bunnies by paying in small ammounts until it was paid completely...
No trust no deal, that is the way I know it. No problem with that.

Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
I've borrowed dark blue clothes for the Noh mask quest, and I returned them safely.
I also had a deal with some guy called froc back in september which involved trust, unfortunately I was unable to log on later that night to complete the deal, and I haven't seen froc since...
It may have been a better deal for me (at the stage it was at), but I'd rather have the deal completed.

What if the valut of every item could be displayed just by right clicking on the item with a buying and selling price. Of course it would be up to the player to decide whether to trade below or highter than the buying and selling price. Then it gives player a sence of control over their trades and assets. for instance you wont have to go to any NPC to get an value of an item before u trade. It would make trade better i think.Only my point of view

I must say like the Pawn shop in the game idea too, There is already a trade bot but a Pawn shop would be kool here and there.Turmfalke wrote:Pawn shops might work, lets say player 1 needs for what every 10kk but has 2 rare hats with a slightly higher value. Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
And how should the client/server know how much the community currently is willing to pay for a item? most hats only have a selling value of 1 or 5 thousand and still players trade them for millions.2@NG0 wrote: What if the valut of every item could be displayed just by right clicking on the item with a buying and selling price. I could add "pawn shop" support to tradebot but it would requier a fool proof system and it would still has a lot of risk which I might not be able to bear.I must say like the Pawn shop in the game idea too, There is already a trade bot but a Pawn shop would be kool here and there.

Re: Pawn shops or People acting as Bank in the game
I dont know if it is already the case but a Scale of highest and lowest price needs to be set for the most expensive artifact to the least expensive. It sould be based on availability of artifact in the game as well. For example Iron ore has a value of 4-5k in the game just because its rare and its takes a lot of time to get. If its going to help for your pawn shop i will make a list of artifact and their market value in the game and PM you or poste it. Once you set the paste I believe you could affect the economy.Turmfalke wrote:And how should the client/server know how much the community currently is willing to pay for a item? most hats only have a selling value of 1 or 5 thousand and still players trade them for millions.2@NG0 wrote: What if the valut of every item could be displayed just by right clicking on the item with a buying and selling price. All we need in the Game is a scale for example the pawn shop who sets a market value, only because u have everything that is needed in the game for every quest.
If there is a Ratio of "Artifact availability to Quest" in the game that should help set a market price and not disrupt the economy. Currency was only possible because there was a scale set the more complex the scale the better and more stable the economy was.But i am no expert as well so its debateable.

This is highly possible. so Necromokron, stop trolling, I have made 5kk in one day so don't say you can't make 10kk in three days......Necromokron wrote:Riiiiight...thedarkfinder wrote:A person could have 10kk in 3 days if they wanted to.

IMO, selling your rares doesn't count. If you got it through bat cave and such, then you have no life (or you have a bot).baseballboy wrote:This is highly possible. so Necromokron, stop trolling, I have made 5kk in one day so don't say you can't make 10kk in three days......Necromokron wrote:Riiiiight...thedarkfinder wrote:A person could have 10kk in 3 days if they wanted to.

I believe runescape has a system like this where the borrowed items cannot be sold or traded and are automatically returned to the original owner at the end of a set time period.
