I agree, proof is required. A screenshot from a player shouldnt be considered a proof but an evidence depending on the situation. But I think a GM's screenshot should be considered a proof.
A new char using abusive words will always have a lower weight in any argument.

btw, mrwho, i am sorry, if you keep on joking without considering the situation, it's not unlikely that you will face such trouble.

Nah, MrWho. I just stick with my decision. The simple fact that you whispered to Prsm with ImaWUSS after how you behaved towards him before has made that character bannable - especially with that name. And remember that you said something like "If I wanted to insult(?) you, I would whisper" not long before that.

Just be glad your main account wasn't banned for some time.

uhm...huh? Well, I don't think that, if that should indeed be the case, has to with it.

He didn't get banned for WHAT he whispered cause I don't even know what it was. And to be honest, I have much more to do with MrWho than with Prsm.

So I would NOT call that favouritism.

If Prsm would have started abusing a player, then for that be kicked and THEN get online with abusive characters to sit next to the priviously abused player or whispering him with those chars - especially after saying publicly that if he really wanted to insult the other person, he would whisper to them, I would DEFINITELY take the same action.

To come back to your first post: Imafairy is not abusive, but Imawuss and Imastupid can be QUITE abusive in the right context, which this situation was. That character didn't get banned for whispering, but for the name in the given context. Sitting next to a player with that char you don't normally sit next to and whom you abused before (even though it was in a subtle way) was already too much.

Maybe ImaWUSS can be unbanned at some point, cause it was not normally used to abuse others (as far as I remember). But for now it will stay as it is.


Please note: Strong language as such is not against the rules and are not necessarily abusive. And seemingly nice or normal words like "Catholic church representative" and "mormon" can be really abusive when used in a certain context.

I was not there so I can't say anything to that case but in general I think you can not proof abuse by whisper.

I see the point that a GM has to see what is happening if he is going to ban someone for something. The GM can't see the whisper.
The problem is, that the chat is not logged. Not at all. That is a problem exactly for such things. Would it be logged (even if only for 12 hours at a time) you could have a proof.
The best thing (slightly off-topic): Some people who seem calm, nice, fair, adult, who will tell you to behave and then whisper you with the worst curse words. Found that funny when that happened to me

About religions: There are people who take religious terms as abusive. I would watch my language when i curse. sounds stupid but using political or religious words might easily be taken very offensive.

About offensive names: I think there are two kinds.
The one that is clearly offensive like "Nigga", "Hitler", or even whole sentences, and no matter in what language. For example lately there was someone sitting in town "Du verfickter Penner" (You Duck up bum) which is a very bad way of cursing someone in german. And clearly directed at everyone who reads and understands it.
The other kind is just a very annoying name but not really an offence. Something like "imawuss", "A**hole".
Also there are names you only see they are offensive at the second look. Like some time ago there was char running around "sinep" read backwards....

@MrWho: Someone asking for IP-check or IP-ban is something natural for everyone who already was GM, Moderator, Administrator somewhere or simply knows the common technical possibilities in a community or a game.

I think there should be a voting of the types of words that should be considered abusive.

I don't think that helps. Cause in the right context anything can be abusive.

Auto filtration is a waste of time.... GMs are needed (not players with GM powers)

Everything can be falsed. But maybe we could add active server to be displayed in the client somewhere.

I would be very glad if we could enjoy a pure democracy here. Fact is we havent come to that point yet. Hopefully one day, day-by-day.

Pure democracy in online games doesn't work. But of course no one noticed we have more democracy than other games.
