Huh, are you blind or not? Sure it's Ubuntu.

One thing to think about, instead of having your terminal over your desktop you could use yakuake or guake terminals. The are like the quake console, you hit the shortcut key and the terminal scrolls down from the top. I use yakuake even though I am using gnome because it seems to work better for me. Yakuake is qt and guake is gtk, they are both in the repository for ubuntu.
