question about afk (botting?)

sorry im a bit of a noob but if botting means afk then are you allowed to afk in the city and in places where monsters aren't around?

botting means afk activity. as long as your char isn't doing anything while you are afk, i.e. fighting monsters, making lifestones, healing (and this isn't a complete list), then you'll be fine.

As long as your character is just standing around and not doing anything you are not botting. You are only botting when your character does something without you controlling it.
As long as you are using the standard client without the help of any external tools (software or hardware) it is very unlikely that you inadvertently break the botting rule. But when you are using a 3rd party client like ManaPlus or even ManaBot, you should inform yourself about any automation features it offers and make sure that they are turned off before you go AFK or alt-tab to another application.

Actually you can set target + attack to caps lock, then it will auto kill for you without being at the keyboard, at least on some machines / builds.
