Well... it's not the first nor the last time a moron acts like that, hidden behind Internet's anonymity. This is exactly what ruins this game... And it doesn't really matter much if a GM was online when Ginaria took those screenshots. Even if a GM was online he/she might ban that player (or, most probably, just mute him for a while), but the fact is, rude behavior can be freely used in TMW. You can just claim you don't offend anyone personally, then you can be as rude as you wish. I recently tried to speak about that to a GM and I just got an ironic answer. It was the first and the last time I tried. No GM really cares (they are rarely online anyway, but it doesn't really make any difference if they are online or not). And I am afraid no developers care as well.

Personally, I gave up hoping the situation will ever change, and I don't think a miracle will happen so I won't see stupid kids acting like that anymore... It is a pity, because this game is really very good and has a lot of potential, but well, it is as it is... if developers and GMs don't care, why should I? In the end, it is not the only cute MMORPG out there...

It's comments like this that prove a person's ignorance and close-mindedness. One failed attempt and it automatically means that all GM's don't care? GM's are real people, with real lives...they cannot be available all the time, and it IS a game, so real life concerns take first place. Their job in-game is to enforce rules, nothing more. They do not define those rules. The current rules do not forbid the use of language some could consider rude or offensive unless it is derogatory and directed at a specific person. The only way they can make that decision is if they see it themselves.

Developers are in the same boat, with the minor difference that they have a lower level of access than GM's do, if they have that access at all. This is also an open-source project, which means that there are many contributors and collaborators, and any changes must be accepted by the majority of those with a vote (the GHP: Group Holding Power).

Speaking from personal experience, these types of problems exist even in commercial games with much less enforcement than we have here. If they haven't been able to effectively eliminate these issues when they have dedicated programmers working on it (with incentive of not losing their jobs), how can a small open-source project with volunteer contributors be expected to do so?

The best way to drive change is to get involved and make contributions that help steer the project in a meaningful direction, whether that be scripting, client/server source programming, or just well-thought-out and balanced ideas.

there are rude people everywhere you go, other MMORPG's and even in real life, you just have to learn to ignore them  no matter what you do people are going to act this way its in their nature and nobodys perfect.

Well, you have a point here, I usually ignore them, but I decided to comment once, and I got an ironic answer from a GM and now I also learned I am "ignorant" and "close-minded".
Just a question though, you really believe Ginaria faked the screenshots? Many players were there and witnessed it. A GM can ask them if he/she wants (you can see who can witness what happened in the screenshots, one of them is me). The fact is, if a GM wanted to do something, he could do it.
Anyway, I knew in advance that nothing will change, and I expected that I might even be blamed in the end, while every random kid can log in TMW and use as much rude "mature" language as he wishes.

I wonder why someone is "ignorant" or "close-minded" if he decides not to accept irony from a random person happened to be a GM and if, after that, loses any willing to try again. But anyway, you can call me as you wish, the point here is not that.

Well, change the rules then... It is as simple as that. It is in developers hands to decide if they will accept rude language or not in their game.

Developers can change the rules though. And I don't think it is so difficult to do it, even though there are many contributors and collaborators.

I am aware of free online games where developers managed to eliminate or at least reduce these issues (I can give you names if you want, but obviously not in public - I'm not going to advertise). They just wanted to do so, and they make it happen. Besides, and speaking from personal experience as well, in open-source projects it is generally easier to deal with such issues much more effectively than in commercial games, where they will never ban someone for bad behavior, as long as he keeps paying to play.

I regret I spoke, I should not bother. It is not the first nor the last online game where rude language is accepted and widely used. Don't take me wrong though, I decided to say something because I like this game, and it is a pity to see it ruined by any rude kid. However, I think I had enough. Now let me act according to my "close-mindedness", and feel free to keep your game as you wanted it to be. [END]

acctually its possible for any player to fake screenshots, its kind of simple to do. and sadly the gms cannot do anything about screenies because they dont know 100% its real, they need to witness it. do i personally think gin made up the screenshots? of course not. but im also not 100% sure understand? im pretty sure gms think the same way. They need to see the language with their own eyes and witness the abuse.

This is why theres a nuke button people, use it when you dont wanna listen to someone.

When you think that the GM coverage is too low, how about electing one or two new game masters?

AFAIK there is already a person who passed the community election and got banked because we already had enough GM activity back then. Maybe it would be time re-evaluate GM coverage and put that one on duty?
