I personally like to know whats going on :P if they talked on private forums then us as a community wouldnt know what would be going on at all.

Splitted from http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 13&t=12648 to avoid an off topic discussion.

Crush, yubaba and everyone :)

thanks for creating and splitting

let me clear my point

i'd just like that posts are clearer as they used to be when several serious devs were working on a project

1. presentation
2. link to the relevant posts in which information of where the project stand at that time and infos on where the project tends to be implemented
links such as http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/User:John_Pyle ...
3. express clearly the needs in terms of deelopment, graphic, story guideline, help needed and so on

this would help a lot the complete comunity to share fastely and with more efficiency

as i said no offense
just trying to make things advance in a better way

Sincerely

and of course i like to know what's going on :)

i just don't like to waste time thinking about ideas or doing things for nothing and redoing :)

Hi,

You also inspired that thread's idea, so thank to you, too.

Ah, and remember, translation progress can be part of development news! ;)

Best regards.

Regarding the private forum issue: We experimented with different grades of transparency in the past. I used to do everything as openly as possible. It worked for me because i was able to differentiate between the opinions of people I should care about and the opinions of people who don't matter.

But a lot of newbie artists despair of trying to listen to everyone, including people who have no idea what they are talking about and whose opinions are completely irrelevant. That's why we created an art development forum which was read-only for non-developers to keep the signal to noise ratio down.

Currently we have a completely private forum to be able to speak openly without risking any spoilers or rumors. The school of thought behind this is that the game experience for the players is best when new content surprises them because and they didn't follow it's development.

All these approaches have advantages and disadvantages, but in the end the only thing that counts is how the team which creates a certain content project can work most efficiently.
