I am currently installing the developer preview of windows 8 in a virtual machine. When it works I am going to install it on my touchscreen netbook.
On an unrelated note, I suspect OP of being a spam bot.

You notice that it's an operating system for tablets. Navigating the new start screen and the applications designed for it with the mouse feels as tacked-on as navigating windows 7 with a touchscreen. When they don't put a lot more effort into the usability of it with mouse and keyboard I would recommend to wait for windows 9 before upgrading your desktop PC.
But I can't await to try it out on my touchscreen netbook. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to do it before the weekend, because I need it in working condition tomorrow and the day after.

Bigger version of that Windows 8 screenshot.
(Sigh, my first thought was that Freeyorp actually slipped and gave away personal details)
What, you expected me to actually stay on topic? Fine:
Gentoo ~amd64 on my desktop, Debian testing on my laptop.

I'm using a Slackware based distro (SLAX) on my old PC, but I still keep a pirate copy of WinXP running on VMware.
I wish to have better hardware to test Windows 8, surely it will be needed due compatibility with new device$ and software.
Looks like a giant 64-bits cellphone and BSOD have a calm blue with smileys to make your day happy...

¿Ctl+alt+delete on a touchscreen?, lots of fun incoming!

I am currently writing this post from my touchscreen netbook with Windows 8. I got to say that the touchscreen support really improved a lot. Especially the new screen keyboard is a big improvement. The new metro interface is really fun to use. But while it is great for reading and games, it is insufficient for doing real work. Fortunately the good old Windows desktop is still there as another fullscreen application.
But you can tell it's a very early alpha version. There are still a lot of bugs and problems MS needs to take care of.
Will it be successful? On tablets definitely. I always wanted a tablet for working on the train. But Android hasn't got the window management for that and Windows wasn't really usable without a keyboard - until now!
But on the desktop? Using the Metro interface without a touchscreen is as awkward as windows without a keyboard. Most desktop users, especially in business environments, would disable it and work only on the classical Desktop. But the changes in the desktop environment aren't really worth switching.

Windows 7/Windows XP Pro 64-bit/Debian
I'm not to fond of the "Metro" UI. I think windows 8 will be the next WindowsME/Vista of MS and Win7 will become the next XP
I understand it's meant for a tablet with a touchscreen but I don't have or plan to ever have or need one. If I need something mobile I have a Toshiba laptop. XD
The whole "walled-garden" approach to Metro apps is something I'm not fond of. Short of becoming a developer there's going to be no way to side-load apps. SO EVERY Metro app will have to come from MS's app store.
No sir I do not like it. I do not like it one bit.
