Just rambling here

Post by Unwelcome »

So, I've been playing as multiple classes (eg: Warrior/Mage/Archer/hybrids) and I've been wondering something about the skills that are available to the players.

I was playing one day and I said aloud "God, why can't I just use two skills at the same time?"

Perhaps it's just me. Maybe I'm the only one, but I just hate the fact that I'm limited to one skill and have to either spend money, or time grinding for a single item (pearls and the like) to make a new potion for a different focus skill.

Why can't i be a mage and focus on astral and speed? Seems like a good Idea to me.

Why can't I be an archer and focus on speed and astral?

Between spending a lot of time gathering ores, or grinding for gp because the game is geared to limit what we can make....

I don't know. Maybe I'm insane. Maybe I should shut up...Ok, I'm shutting up now.

It's planned to be able to focus on more than one skill, but there needs to be done some tweaking of the skills and some new skills need to be added.
Imagine an archer focusing on Speed and Mallard's Eye with the skills as they are now. That would just be way too overpowered.

About the need to grind some items to be able to change your focus - in my opinion tmw already allows you much more possibilties to change your characters abilities (stat reset and change skill focus) in the later game than most other games.

I should switching between skills should be lot more easier, and even done by player without NPC's. Only in this way unrestatable skill points make sense.
I'm Image too much.

The Grimace of Dementia potion (what a delightful name!) is not difficult to make. It generally costs a few bottles of water, a few bones, about 15 lifestones, and a pearl (read the wiki page for tips). By the time that you're ready to change skills, you're probably level 50-60 and can either shoot skeletons or buy the items off another player. If you have difficulty, just ask someone for help.

Since you can get enough skill points to raise all skills to their maximum, I'm not sure why it's necessary to be able to reset them -- just keep killing monsters. If you put all your points into Brawling or Resist Poison and have difficulty getting more skill points, switch to archer for a while. The graveyard is full of skill points just waiting for you!
You earn respect by how you live, not by what you demand.
