I use Acer Aspire 4530 with AMD Turion x64 for Linux Mint Nadia & the most updated ManaPlus Client :)

Otherside, I use Intel for my Windows PC with Windows 8 Professional on it.

What about you?

I am more of a software guy, but AFAIK LGA 1155 doesn't support multiple CPU sockets on one board. I think you can only do that with Xeon CPUs using LGA 1366 or LGA 2011 sockets.

hmm I wonder if they will come out with something. I'm just thinking of a nice machine I can build for around 1.5k at most.

When you want a decent dual-socket workstation you have to invest at least 2k.

But seriously, why? There are very few niche applications where you need that much parallel CPU power on a desktop system. Remember, more CPU cores don't process faster, they just process more at the same time. Also, for many applications the bottleneck isn't CPU power, but rather the video card or the disk IO. When you just want it for pure bragging rights: in a few years average consumer-grade hardware will outperform it anyway, and a few years later even a tablet will be faster.
