PROJECT HURNSCALD

-- Poll: Should we make scale interiors? --
- Yes: Make Scale interiors below the buildings with ladder access.
- No: No, keep the interiors in the actual building.
- Don't Care: I don't mind either way.

Hello Fellow Mana-Worldian-Hurnscald-Sitters!

WHAT is this?:

Recently I started a Scale Model of Hurnscald in Minecraft.
I got quite a bit done, all of Hurnscald, a few shop interiors and the north of the outskirts.
Unfortunately Minecraft crashed on me and the only backup I had was ancient. :P
So after some chat in Hurnscald I brought it up again that I was making this model.
Derpella enthusiastically volunteered to assist me in the creation of this project.
So I decided to start the project up again and open it up so anyone from TMW can contribute!

What Can I do?:
Well for starters if you want to contribute you must:

A. Have Minecraft
B. Have a Copy of the Map or access to it through a server
C. Be able to upload your changes.

So, if you want to contribute please read on to find out how.

Contributing

What we are attempting
We are hoping to start off with just a scale model of Hurnscald.
Depending on how many people contribute is how much we will make.
If we get several dedicated people contributing to this build then we'll attempt something larger, maybe the continent. Depending on how well this goes we might make several maps.

The Team (So Far)
Head Builders:
Nahem
Derpella

Contributors:
Knight

How do I join the team?
Contact Nahem or Derpella ingame or post in this thread and we'll send you the map and Server IP and port for when it is online.
To contribute upload your altercations (We can do Schematics or structures on a separate map) and post or pm a link for us.

What is done so far? (Changelog and percentages)
Version 1.0:
* Hurnscald:
- Exterior: 95%
- Interior: 8%
- OutSkirts: 5%

The Current Released Version
Download comming soon. (When we finish Version 1.0)

Screenshots
Yes, we now have pictures!
(Please ignore my terrible Tree-Punching Emo Skin. I badly need to redo it. :P)

Image
We have found Ginaria's hideout. It must be defended incase Hinnak discovers flint and steel.

Image
The spawn point is set at the soul menhir, when players repsawn they get healed. :)

Image
Mighty spirits save those poor souls who step on Kull's tile...

Image
The confused tree! :D (I miss the confused tree  )

Image
A little picture of the town from the air.

Image
The center of Hurnscald and the center of the action!!!

Image
A view down the streets of Hurnscald.

Image
A concept non-scale interior. It is inside the blacksmith's building.
With Non-Scale interiors they are actually inside the buildings, but don't look right at all :/

Image
A scale interior entrance would have to look like this inside the building, Not too attractive :/

Image
A scale interior concept for the archery shop. Scale interiors loom better but look bad going inside them, they are not inside the actual building, they are under the building and they take much longer to create than non-scale interiors. :/

 Hope you enjoyed the Screenies.

Banners
I thought I'd go completely over the top and make a banner to support the build >:D
Simply put this in your signature and you'll support the build:

Code: Select all

All contributors welcome!

Sorry I had to shrink it down so much...
Bit of a work in progress, we need to tweak and change a few things and there isn't a great lot done yet but I think that we can make this build.

Exterior is pretty much complete now. Got screenies in other PC though.
And it's not Enderman, just Nahem... since Zombies like to break wooden door and Creepers... well, every one knows I think, we build on Peaceful untill we'll get some protection plugins working well.
Knight, there is a lot of server plugins allowing making a lot of functional, easily reskinnable NPC.

>:D

That bribe cost me dark blue rabbit ears for about 5 minutes of you saying how much you hated the game XD
But then pyroninjaa and I had fun griefing the world so who cares :P

Also, like Derpella said- I've disabled all hostile monsters spawning in the world we are building hurnscald in until I can find a plugin to set spawns...
I do have enderman block pickup, explosions (including TNT and creepers and ghasts I think), firespread and lava causing fire disabled with WorldGuard.
Problems with those things would be for people using the world in singleplayer.
Also as Derpella stated, we did have NPCs with the citizens plugin but it crashed :/
You can see Jack the Lumberjack in leather armor holding an iron axe in the screenshot I posted.

We've got all the exterior of Hurnscald finished now.
I'm gonna have some great fun with painter shaping the coastline accurately :P
(That was sarcasm in case your going to recruit me to make a coastline for your project recreating an mmorpg world :P)

If anyone wants to see the build so far contact me and I can send you a map.
Or if the server is up, the ip is: theotherworlds.dyndns.org:25565

We plan to as soon as we work out how much space the Continents and oceans will need.
I think we'll do tuli next and then nivalis, if I can mess with the game and find a seed to use that puts a snow biome in the right spot. :)
