Spawn Parties by GMs

Post by Ginaria »

Hello, greetings to all lifeforms of manaworld and to the myterious beings called developers :)

by checking the what the most mighty powered (after Pinkies) Protectors of Peace (called GMs) doing, i noticed again, they need to stop their spawn parties often, because some very few party- crashers, like wedding crashers, cast rain or arrow spells... if I am not wrong or missunderstood something, probably a solution could be found for this problem. Because why should it possible for some few party crashers to have so much influence on a funny event.

I dont know, if the following ideas can be implemented... and probably there are better solutions, but let me try:
1:) GMs will get a chat message, who is doing the rain/arrow spell, so they can kick these party crushers of manaworld, probably for an hour
2:) I believe many players have performance problems, when many summoned creatures are on the map und somebody is doing rain/arrow spell, so probably this kind of bottleneck could be improved by help of developers.

And one issue about the spawn parties on Pinky territory (area around on Hurnscald), be careful, people could hurt a Pinky in action. Like the immortal warriors on earth dont want loose their head, Pinkies dont like to loose their antenna!

First: This pink text is horrible to read. Can't you stick to readable and standard black?

Now at topic: How shall people understand that a special spell is disallowed in a specific situation.
The spell is a feature of the game. Banning people for using it does not make sense. Secondly sending a message to GMs everytime the spell got used will spam the gms with a LOT of unnessecary messages. I doubt gms will be very happy about it.

About the performance issue:
Yes currently particles are loaded by the xml file everytime they get inserted into the map (at use). So for adding 100 times the same particle the fill will get parsed 100 times. Maybe we can find a way to cache particles similar to the images.

Hiya Ablu :)
only for you i choosed a darker pink now, its more purple and probably better to read... :)
Like i said, its only ideas to solve this issue, probably better ideas are around or it is okay like it is, i dont know. I only think one player should not be able to crush an event. But i need to say too, i havent joined a spawn party last months, but i believe it is still a problem. And surely GMs should not be spammed by spells! Like i said, only very few use the rain and arrow spell at events, so few messages.

GMs normally often mention that spell like for rain and arrows should not used at spawn parties, and GMs repeat it often as warning, but still some people dont like to listen. Here is an example:

Thx for writing in black ;)

Well it might be a problem. But solving it by forbidding the spell (with temponary ban) does not sound good to me.
They way BigCrunch did it sounds fine to me. He did not forced anyone. Maybe there could be a event map where some spells are disables. But it should be better considered by developers ;)
I only wanted to point out the problems.

@Ablu: as a developer you should know that pinkies have very special eyes, that makes pink to purple colors higher contrast, thus much more readable. Perhaps it is because they eat a lot of pink petals and mauve herbs though the recent attempt for them to have a wider range of herbs to eat. Gina is about the only one who tries to be understood by them in this forum and in game as well. We must have a great respect about that.

Wow what a nice idea, now you don't have to move to have a spawn party!

Sorry, for disturbing this serious thread;

I suggest a new spell, map ranged, with no particle effect and long time effect, available only to GMs, that would return arrow hail to it's caster.

Idea: Just as we have flags for no_player_drops, town, and pvp, maybe we could have an "event" flag. GMs would set this flag when an event was about to start, clear it when it ended, and the code path for potentially disruptive spells would involve a check against the event flag, giving no effect if it was set.

I talked to o11c he said in theory a gm command to deactivate magic is possible but he would never touch magic :D
So the idea is great but who will do it :P?
I will try to make a spell for GMs only which will disable those spells. Let's see when I find the time to do that :P
Maybe in a month or so.

This is why after all this years my spawn parties are on Hurnscald town or in the evil obelisk cave near north mine ONLY.

Until we have a way to stop the use of frillyar or kaflosh in the mob spawn parties I will continue to do them in those places.
I can understand a mage that frillyar since it will kill something, but i have seen kaflosh and I'm still wondering why they need to make rain and cause lag, maybe it is fun for them, but well...
