doubts about gm concept (Closed)

Suppose that at some future I become a GM, I would have to spend all day sitting and checking rules are met? or could be playing normally helping my friends and people in need, be killing, leveling up or whatever else you normally do. Or just that account would be useless and will have to create another?

Being a GM doesn't stop you from playing the game, but if you get a complaint about botting, spam or abuse etc. those should be your number one priority not killing monsters and leveling.

To be a GM means to give up you write to remain neutral (I know something of this from being a forum mod and irc channel op).
That's why GMs always have one or more alt accounts that they can play while their main is sitting in town.

Being a developer, OTOH, is awesome.

When a player becomes a GM he does not stop to be a player, we can play and level as much as we want, as long as we don't use our powers to get any advantage over a regular player.
When we play we play as a regular player does, but sure there is less free time to do it, I'm 96 and I doubt I will reach 99 anytime soon because in my case I prefer to focus on the GM job than in power level my char all day long. As a GM you can play for hours but you must stop to help players when they ask, you must stop regularly to do rounds and be available for GM duty, the job in our case comes first :).
And sure as o11c states we also have alts to play when we are not needed o when another GM is on duty. But we also play with our GM chars as much as we want, as I said the point is not use any power to do that.

I understand the priorities of the game, but there are always priorities, people breaking the rules. So being game master must be a difficult task as everything in this world, It no would be so easy to make your old work. (leveling up, collecting items etc.)

I see, so you would usually create a specific account for each of my needs, gm be a great responsibility and if I want to be I have to put the effort and show that I can be one of the best.
Forgot this: I want working as a developer, but I am currently taking classes so it would be a matter of time

That doesn't stop me, it's not like most of my classes have anything worth paying attention to. (I though this would be better by the Junior year (3rd of 4 years for non-USians?), but there's only one good class out of five)

(It does lessen it, though ... the thing that really seems to kill my time is not having access to the internet all the time, driving, etc.)

Some of the programming tasks I would assign could be completed offline ... *if* you're knowledgeable enough. For novice stuff you'd likely needed walking though step-by-step.

In fact, my biggest upcoming contributions reside entirely on my local machine so far.

If you're interested in development, be on #tmwa on the weekends. Like, now.
