this character is named menippus. we all know what this person is trying to say. it needs to be banned and make him or her make a suitable character name. this is not good for the game's reputation and very difficult to have to view

Offensive name? I think its a personal opinion on it. As we know that this TMW game is played by the people around the world. Some names may be OK in his/her country, but no in other country. This may apply to the other name that may be OK in your country, but no in his/her country even mine.

So, I think its about personal opinion on it. Just be wise and try to do not hurt anyone, even with your words. Keep this game in peace

mennipus is a famous satirist whos work was all lost but has srtill had a ;asting impact through influence. seems to me youre the one with your mind in the gutter and not himalso you may try to educate yourself before passing a judgment

Oh, yes I do sorry for judging you all. I do forget about the culture gap around here. Its a western knowledge that I supposed to learn, thank you all. Referring to this link ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menippus ), I understand about Mennipus and do empathy about this offensive names.

So please, GM or Admin may consider to ban/kick him/her who use this name or make some regulation about the char name on the term & conditions. Sorry if I got mistaken.

Having a username that is the same as a famous/well known person is not against the rules. Is there some language where this is an swear word? Otherwise I can see no reason why this person should have action taken against them.

if it is similar to a swear word in another language there is nothing we can do about just a similarity.

I personnally don't see anything offensive in the name "menippus".

It seems to have been a rather influent cynic philosopher, or some kind of that.
Maybe he tells things that might appear as wounding for some people or some cultures, but that's probably still reflexion he had, and i doubt he wrote it to be only vindicative, if it's the case. You can't spit on it, even if that's contrary to your opinion and your way of life.

Moreover, maybe the concerned player is just a fan on him, and he wanted to tribute him.
It would be really bad to ban him for that reason, especially if it's a new player... Imagine yourself being new to a game and seeing that you were banned because your nickname is the name of someone you admire ? That would be pretty disgusting
