Strange fault and an invisible player.

Hi everyone,

Just curious about something I witnessed today. I was in the Northern Mines about to hit slimes, when the slimes started exploding before my eyes one at a time, even though I could see no player active at all. Also an "invisible player" was attempting to heal me although I was just standing there watching dumbfounded and asking questions.

I took a screen shot. Looking at the screenshot I saw alan12 (and only alan12) was supposed to be somewhere near me. This did not seem like the normal lag (game stalled then sudden explosion of monsters) as I was watching for a while, walked normally, followed the "invisible player" around, or rather the trail of slimes being hit.

After being killed, I returned to the northern mines again and saw what I thought was alan12 attacking slimes, then disappear and keep attacking slimes.

Seriously, I am, as we all are, well acquainted with the lag explosion of hits all at once and this definitely was not that.

Anyone ever had this happen?

It was strange.

Can devs hit while hidden?

Hi,

Gm 40-50 when they are hiden from monsters or players (pvp) they can't kill or hit monsters, and monsters or players can't hit them

except when they are invisible they can attack or be attacked by monsters.

Just to clarify , Developers can *not* go invisible, and they cannot hit monsters while hidden. The only people that can go invisible on the game are GMs and Admins.

Chicka

The last time I tried it was already a long time ago, but as an admin with @hide (which makes monsters ignore you but doesn't conceal you from players) and @invisibility (which hides you from players) I was able to attack and kill monsters.

If someone is using the @invisible command, which makes you not visible to others, they can attack monsters and heal others.

If using the @hide command, you are invisible to monsters and cannot attack monsters nor heal players, but you are visible to other players.

Using them in tandem, you are not able to interact with monsters or players at all and are for all intents and purposes, not there.

It's possible that this is one of those bugs where the attacker does not appear. One instance of this occurs often in the graveyard, where you can see an arrow flying all the way from (0, 0) because the shooter is off the screen even though the target is not. There is also a bug in the client where if an entity is removed then quickly readded, it does not appear, but i don't think that applies here as I think it only counts when the removal is due to death.

I have some plans on changing the implementation of @invisible and @hide ... while they both have a need, I'm not sure whether they have the best implementation. Maybe @invisible should logically imply @hide? This would allow an implementation where @invisible players are *really* not there, they just happen to be registered for events in that area.

I've already made a change locally (not yet pushed) so that if you log out while under @hide, when you log in again it will be removed, as this has been a source of confusion.

Actually... using charged attack spells such as ingrav or flar, while using @invisible often causes an explosion of red sparks, the same as when a player levels up.
