Helping Friendly Forks

I believe the past, present and future of The Mana World will involve some level of crossover between third party contributors, forks and servers that are friendly to The Mana World and the community we seek to build. It is a widely known secret that some of the best work from forks and alternative servers helped revamp The Mana World during low periods in development and that developers, after testing their hands with third party servers, came to help The Mana World.

We offer many things to help development outside our official game. Third parties can use tmwAthena source, and/or tmwArt as a basis for an entirely new game. They can use our official content as a skeleton to build on top of or as inspiration for how they'd like to make their own content unique. While we can't promise full support for third parties, many developers are willing to try and help other servers succeed.

What do we get out of it? After some experience, many third party game developers see that our community is often their community and decide to help us out. Instead of having separate art from tmwArt, third parties can contribute to our art for their own game. Instead of starting their source from scratch or forking their source from ours, they can contribute to tmwAthena source, ensuring better support for their game while advancing the abilities of all games based on official tmwAthena source to run smoothly and have more interesting features.

If you are a third party contributor, developer, artist, programmer, writer, server administrator or have any desire to see a wider variety of games based on ours, please consider helping us help you. You may find a combination of efforts to be more cooperative than competitive for the advancement of all The Mana World games.
