The Community Game Project

More less the same as this project... everyone contributes and stuff but with visual basic and not based on a game... unless the community wanted so. Anyways check it out and all.

Way back I said MS should make a game it didnt get no where but it wasnt my fault other people decided to run it then. I still think its a good idea. With lots of people contributing then one nice thign will be made.

Heres the general idea... everyone is on the staff... its public domain... the source code will be able to be downloaded and everyone can add graphics. People will add maps, graphics, code anythign as they wish and they can then post on the website (which I would make) for added to the general game. There will then be a poll setup about their addition and democracy wins it. If peopel want that feature or image or anything in the game its done... if they do not then its not.

People probably wont contribute a lot right away I know this cause they do their own stuff and all but as the game progresses im sure that people will be more interested and help more. This is in no way my game. I am just organizing everything. I have no more say than anyone else as its everyones game. A game by the people for the people.

So who all likes this idea and would contribute in some way or check out the game or whtaever. I will get things started unless people dont want it.

Any questions ask away.

So you want to create a game and make every small decision democratic? A quite daring approach. Might be interesting to see what comes out of it.

Indeed, but I think its easier to handle this on a multi-access server, where people who joined this project do have their own static folders with a changelog and a folder who contains the approved up-to-date version. Either, everything is gonna be messy and noone knows whats now the real version. Another way would be having an opensource up-to-date version and have weekly polls which function should be inplented, on the weekend everyone can contribute how he would solve and do it.

Anyway, be more specify, Visual Basic 6? 2005? 2003? I can work with all three ones but just to inform other people ;p

Per se, I would be interested, but I categorize java and VB into the same category: "KILL IT WITH FIRE!"

Too bad, the idea about the decision making is interesting.

I won't put VB and java in the same category.

Democration is flawed, Poland suffers from it since almost 20 years. Actually every modern form of goverment is worth nothing, the only one among them which makes some basic sense is constitutional monarchy, which guarantees stability of a country even if undereducationed mob choses idiots for high goverment positions. So, we have a constitutional monarchy in this project and many other and it seems fine. ;) God bless the King Elven. ;)

Its Visual Basic 6. Everything will be voted on so the community will run itself more less but not 100%.

There will be one base code and everyone can download and do as they please with. Then if they add something and want it in the main code they will post the code they added on the forums and make like a tutorial on how to add it. Then a selected person will add that to the main code (if voted to be added in) and after so many additions a new release will come out so everyone can download the updated source to work with.

I know there are some flaws but anything can have flaws. I can see it working ... look at this game and how far its got. Sure its a little different but its almost the same concept.

I had this idea before coming here but this game shows that it can work.

Anyways sign up if you like... ask any questions... so on.

No I didnt give up rather ran out of money to keep my web server running which sucks.

Im signing up for sourceforge to continue this on there. I signed up and verified and all of that, but I clicked create a project. It said to sign in. I put my info in correct and all and it takes me back to the same screen to enter login info again. Doesnt say any errors. I tried multiple times and same thing. Whats wrong?
