Map aliases

I'm thinking of implementing map aliases in limited contexts. As a result, I will be able to transparently rename the troublesome "botcheck" map transparently.

To my knowledge, only the GM team has a critical interest. Is there anyone else, besides developers writing scripts, who have an interest?

My main question is: are there any contexts other than

Code: Select all

@warp botcheck
where the aliases need to work?

Not that i am aware of.

I've only used warp with the botcheck map name.

I agree with Veryape, it's the only time I use @warp

Testing, Development, destination: depend on developed content.

So this would allow us to create aliases
Such as:
hurnscald -> 009-1
So @warp hurnscald would take you to 009-1
sensible.

I agree that the warp names could be better named. I appreciate it is only devs and probably GM's that need use of this, unless something happens later in the game development, but at the same time the name as a word, rather than a number/letter combo would be better. If new maps are added, the names won't line up all the time. It would be good for a GM to have say designated territories, if they don't already. Also, for devs to explore specific areas. I know it can be looked up as to where the maps go to, but it would be easier with a name. I mean we name everything else in society...it's pretty important.

I don't even know how to look up zone codes so this would be veeery helpful.

For test server, I mean.

Yeah. Aliases is better than @warp with map code. I'm confused with them in test server. I can't remember all map number :alt-4:
