GM event

Coming up with an idea for a GM event can be quite hard. After doing it for a few years, I need help.

I would like to see some ideas here, if the idea is workable and we use it, the person that comes up with the idea will win a "special item" from the gm's.

So let's get those creative juices flowing and we can have a GM event.

Melita whispered me this idea,

Some what like hide and seek, the GM's find a place to hide, when they are found they give a hint to an item, if a player can figure out which item all the GM's are holding, they win.

To make it a tad tougher Melita also suggested that the GM 's warp to different locations during the event so that there location could not be shared amongst friends.

Here's a couple ideas to throw out there though some of them might take some work.

-It would be cool if there was a map that generated mazes, and whoever got to the center of the maze first and sat on the gm would win. (maybe throw in some extras in the maze such as monsters and dead ends)

-Have one monster the GMs can spawn once in a blue moon ONLY for events (This means no summoning it during spawn parties), the 1 monster can teleport around tmw and whoever kills it first the monster makes a global announcement announcing who killed it.

- Development contest (different categories such as pixel art (can be different themes such as make a hat contest or shoes etc., music, mapping etc.). This can be something Devs can host too if interested. It was tried in the past but it could be hosted differently.

-Riddles on the forum

Might have a few more ideas later on.

Mmh, i have some idea, but not pretty sure if its ok.

I saw some monster like yellow slime, will take a dropped item.

How about you make some special item that can obtainable
during the event only, and after the event the item will dissapear from anyone who still hold it..

This special item, lets just say it like, "pink pencil", "red pencil" and "green pencil", this item will droped at some cave that already set up by GM, where the cave full of monster like "Yellow slime"(who will take every dropped item).

After all of the dropped special item disappear, cause of the yellow slime, then contestant will be allowed entering the cave, and hunt down the yellow to get the special item.

There is rule for more interesting, example:
-Contestant have to collect 5 green pencil, 2 red pencil and also 1 pink pencil, to get the real prize from GM..
-contestant have to be naked or unarmed and also using Brawling skill during to find the special item (this just example, coz i think its very few ppl used this skill, and also if GM can check the skill were used on contestant) hehehe....

-after the collected item are enough for prerequist item, the contestant have to race to find a gm who hold the real prize for the event, my suggestion the GM have to be hide somewhere in the place that have some sort of aggressive monster, so if the contestant not carefull enough, they will start over to find gm at soul menhir....hehehe...

This could be hard, contestant have to found quick the GM at dangerous area that have some agressive monster, and at that moment the contestant using brawling skill, if they want to change the skill, contestant will only wasting time...

-for the contestant who found gm first, they will granted the real prize (lets say, who ever sit first up the GM won it....hehehe...


But yes, if i calculate this could be hard to make it, you need at least 3 or 4 GM during the event (1 hide, 1 dropped item, 1 guard the cave yellow slime, and
Another GM watching area and invisible to all player)

But maybe you could customized my idea prsm...:)
This is just an idea for me and i think this should be very fun...hehehe...

some great ideas, but we dont have any developers to assist at the moment, So I am looking for events that wont
take coding.

We can do something sort of like that with scripted warps - search a few years back for something about the 11 or 15 submaps needed.

This was how a few of the current rares entered the game. It works best if no one knows when it's being done, though.

Also, if we want to guarantee that at least N items are dropped, we have to run a count every time the server is restarted.


It's not possible to delete items on restart, but it's possible to replace them with some cheap item (even while the server is running). I wouldn't recommend it though.

Also note: Other than (possibly) adding a new item, this doesn't require any dev work, and just requires an admin for the @item part.

I can only think of another version of hide & seek.

The first player to catch a GM for the third time will win.
Obviously the GM would have to change location each time (s)he was found.

Personally I enjoy hide & seek but it's usually so fast over.
IMO it wouldn't hurt if the event lasted longer.

Also the advantage of hide & seek is that everyone can participate with almost equal winning chances.
Of course chars focussed on speed are faster and older players know the maps better but e.g. in kill the GM events newbie characters hardly have a chance, especially when other players do pvp.
Hide & seek is pretty fair here and doesn't require any dev work.


Edit:
Something else that would be nice is gathering the community to do something special as a requirement to running a GM event.
E.g. the GM promises to do a spawn party but before that at least 25 people must gather to do a Jack O pyramide:

I think demanding that the players do something certain together as a community could be a nice thing.

Double XP weekends would be a great idea for an event. I loved it the weekend that the roleback happened and we had double XP to compensate. Could also have double drop rate too.

I have an idea about reverse auction event
- Firstly, online people is divided into 2-3 part, each part is associated to a GM
- A GM will tell the item for auction
- Player will whisper to associated GM and tell his price in GP (and only GP is accepted) for that item
- Each round will last in 5-10 minutes, and you can change your price during process, but only last one is recorded
- The winner is player who has lowest and unique price
- Only one winner for a round, so GMs will compare his result with other GMs
- Player must tell his price to associated GM and only that GM or his price is not recorded
- The winner have to pay his price for that item to get reward

Good point:
- Each player has same chance for reward
- No development is required for the event
Bad point:
- People can get more chance by using many alternative characters

It's just my suggestion, feel free to add more rules to make it more perfect :alt-3:

My ideas:
There are 3 main ideas of task will be solved on event:
  1. You need to chat correct number from number spelled with words
    ex. twenty-nine million, five hundred eleven thousand, twenty-eight and eleven thousand, one hundred twenty-three hundred-thousandths (29511028.11123)
  2. Organize letters to get a word and chat it
    ex. atllgrponceheheeacpor (electroencephalograph) (not all words will be so difficult) :)
  3. Guess word (i don't remember how this game called) (not all words will be so easy)
    ex.
    Theme Food:
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 7p
    _ _ _ _ K _ _ 6p
    _ _ _ C K _ _ 5p
    _ H _ C K _ _ 4p
    ...

Another idea:

"Oh no! TMW has been invaded by aggressive *insert monster here*. The wizards council has tracked the source to a powerful new entity on GM Island. Will you join the resistance army and help take down this new foe?"

Essentially a bigger version of General Krakun but boss points are awarded for each round that you survive instead of making it to the end and there is a final boss on the scale of Luvia or more difficult. Those who do make it to the end receive bonus points.

An idea for the GM event:

Theme: Team PVP
The GMs divide the players into a number of equal teams and each team tries to kill the other team. The survivors of the last team to stand win.
To make it more interesting I suggest it to be played in a maze with a number of entrances.

The GMs can also participate in the event as another team or play it as another version 'KILL THE GM' event. Ofcourse the teams try to kill eachother too. In a maze the GMs could also warp to different locations.

To make teams, the players could be divided into slots like 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, etc by levels and then almost equal no of players would be chosen from each slot for each team.
