This is sh*t antivirus, sorry.

Avast often detect open source libs as viruses.
You should:
1. disable silent mode in avast.
Right click on avast icon and check what "silent mode" unchecked.

2. then reinstall manaplus
3. run manaplus, avast will delete files again and will show warning.
Image
4. select "add the file to scan exclusion list"
5. If manaplus still broken, reinstall manaplus again.

now manaplus can work.

Same happened to me, Mogge. :( Not a happy camper! My partner turned my computer off and unplugged due to severe thunderstorm involving quite frequent lightning strikes and I turn back on and I couldn't even open the game at all and then tried uninstall and download again from manaplus site :( Hooray for 4144's genius xD

Used avast 2014, it never detected libfreetype-6.dll as virus. Upgraded it to the latest version, avast 2015 and after that when I started mana world, it showed me, that the dll has virus and autodeleted it..
Here what I done to make mana world work :

Open avast.
Go to settings > Active Protection and then turn off "File System Shield".
Reinstall ManaPlus.
After that go to Settings > Active Protection and click on File System Shield 'customize' link.
Click on exclusions, click on add and type this on the field without quotes
"C:\Program Files (x86)\The Mana World\libfreetype-6.dll" [for windows 64 bit]
or
"C:\Program Files\The Mana World\libfreetype-6.dll" [for windows 32 bit].
Now click OK.
Be sure to reactivate the "File System Shield"

Start ManaPlus.
Now ManaPlus works. :alt-0:
