As you can see, after I started typing characters in Chinese, the client would repeat the button that I pressed.( You saw the chatbox bouncing as the client kept repeating the "Enter" button). And everything's fine after switching back to English.
So, is that mean I could never type characters besides European alphabets?

As I know chinese characters not supported by default by any linux.
Need install and enable special input extender like IBUS.
If char repeating look to your input extender and may be tune it or change to another.
