There is really badass bug in Selim script, wihch caused me to lose my Bowler Hat.

Repro steps (approximate):

Prerequisites:
1) You should have Bowler Hat, some dye (I had red) and cotton cloth.
2) Adequate quest flags so Selim willing to color some items for you, including robe, etc.

To reproduce:
1) Go to Selim and talk to him.
2) Select "About these sorcerer robes..."
3) After few chats, Selim would tell: "Of course I can help you by dyeing the materials your tailor will want."
4) At this point user provided with various options to give materials to Selim.
5) Somehow, there is completely wrong menu entry appears: "Bowler hat"
6) If you select this menu entry - your bowler hat is gone. Selim would give you piece of cotton cloth at this point.

Result:
Loss of Bowler Hat, which is only given once per character and only at specific dates. Which is unfortunate, to say the least.

P.S. Item recovery request: since item has been lost due to bug, I think my item should be recovered via administrative action?
Approximate time of loss (today):
[09:11] You picked up 1 [Cotton Cloth].

1. "About these sorcerer robes..."
2. "Do you think you can dye that line to a different color?"
3. "Oh, I see!"
4. "Sure. Here is one."
5. "Bowler Hat"

I will submit a patch for this bug when I get some time


To get back your bowler hat:

1. Create a new character (at least 2 weeks before you get the bowler hat)
2. Wait until January 24th
3. Go get your bowler hat from Shannon
4. Optionally delete this character since you don't need it anymore

If a bug stole your item, you can request a new one. You shouldn't have to wait for a new hat if it was a bug that robbed you of yours.

quest items tied to quest states are different then not getting the right dyed item back as there is no quest state to reset or any advantage from having done this other than the dyed hat.

And so, what you've decided? Can I haz my hat? While it's not super-expensive or super-rare item and I can afford to buy replacement, and 4144 already offered me to give replacement hat from his personal collection, wouldn't it be more fair to just re-create item which has been lost due to script bug? I'm also fine with "full & complete transaction reversal", i.e. I can give back that obtained cotton cloth back, if this matters.

Talk me in game /w Rubikon i will give you the bowler hat.

I knew, TMW is full of kind players who are willing to give thing like this, even not asking anything in exchange. In fact its TMW community what makes me to like TMW. Yet, while I'm not rich Female dog, wolf, fox or otter, I can definitely afford to buy such item myself, etc. Actually, I've been curious to see how TMW processes are working and if it could be resolved better way.

On side note, while I'm not a big fan of administrative interventions, I think putting some other players at disadvantage due to the fact I'm faced bug sounds like poor plan to me. So I think it's one of these few strange corner cases where it's okay to use stuff like @item.

At the end of day I can admit I should say "thanks" to everybody involved. I really value all these offers of hats and happy it resolved in ways I believe more fair than ripping someone of 200K-worth item. Themanaworldians, you rock

p.s. ...and I definitely should retest this bug once it gets fixed.
