[DIS] Scamming

Hi people.
This scam has been happening since the early days. When I first started playing on here (either 2008 or 2009), I remember a character using a similar technique, of getting a person to drop a valuable item, and then taking it, and nicking off. Techically, what the person is doing isn't stealing, but is indeed being a deceitful scumbag who makes silly game objects more important than their character reputation.
The problem is in policing this kind of thing, and this is why it is important for people to understand. Here are some answers to possible suggestions:
* Ban IP address - some IP addresses have multiple users, as it is an outward address from the router to the internet. This would result in innocent people being banned for nothing. Also, IP address can be changed.
* Ban MAC address - if this is even possible, MAC addresses can be changed, and can be set so that somebody pretends to be someone else, and then gives them a bad reputation.
* Ban email addresses - emails can be changed, and more than likely the people who do this scam have either already got a secondary (or tertiary or more) email address, and would have swapped the items into their account already.
As can be seen, the best way to tackle this is to not allow it to happen you YOU personally (I say you, so you, whoever you are, can see that it is a responsibility to tread cautiously, and not regarding the other person) by recognising the danger and avoiding it. Be assured that any person who does this kind of thing is recognised before their creator as a dishonest person, and regardless of it being a game or not, it reveals their dishonest and self-interested character. Maybe it is another good reason why the new server is a fresh start, as it will hopefully purge any use out of people's accounts that were made through this method.
