I was looking over some of the goals for Hurnscald on the new server, and I saw enchanted log in the description of the Lena NPC.
I thought I'd like to try to make the log look enchanted, so here's my first attempts :

The brighter spots are more visible, and therefore it looks better (with the new log icon, this might be different though). They could be a little bit bigger, to avoid people confusing them with bubbles (which would imply 'poison'). Also the inventory icon cannot be animated, only the items on the ground can be animated. This means there should also be a static icon for the enchanted log.

May I suggest runes etched into the log to give that enchanted feel to the static icon?

I want also to remember we have (counting logs on TMW-BR, on art repository and on other servers) over six variations of logs already >.>

Just for reference, of course. Personally, I think there are more important things to do than enchanted logs, but that depends if WildX is going to allow crafting wands soon, and several details about how they'll be enchanted/obtained, etc...

Dev Academy has no rules of that kind. People here are learning and I think they should work on whatever they feel comfortable doing. Enchanted Logs are definitely not a top priority, but I also wouldn't expect someone who's just learning to take on some of the much more difficult stuff we have on our todo list. I'm happy to suggest things that are needed for the next milestone and Seeds or anyone else is always free to open a [WIP] thread in the other dev sections for those things.

Now that they're both more visible I prefer the smaller spots. How would you feel about a darker blue? I always imagine mana-affected items to have a similar colour to Soul Menhirs.

I can't seem to find the Soul Menhir graphics, could you give me a link?

I couldn't find the Soul Menhir graphics for particle effects, so I tried to darken the blue to the point where you can still see it.
I also tried making runes, but it doesn't look quite right...

I struggled to find these because the Legacy files are named in a very confusing way. The particles are just named "orb" without reference to the Soul Menhir even though they're what is being used in the xml for the Menhir. Here are the files:

Maybe you could make the log look something like a circuit board for runes?

Just asking, but could you make it a pinkie pink log hehe

Maybe you could make it cracked down the middle and oozing green glitter juice or something hehe. Or maybe you could prop tiny mushrooms or maybe a hole with evil eyes hehe.

You could even make it shoot rainbows hehe.
