I want to buy an iPad. Mainly to play D&D with friends (with D&D Beyond, check it out, not sponsored) and to take notes at university.

Now, an iPad costs hundreds of pounds (or hundreds of any currency of your choice really) and while I'm at it I thought it would only make sense to add an Apple Pencil gen 2 into the mix which is about £100 on top of the initial price. The total would be something in the range of £800, maybe less with student discount. I can afford it if I tap into my savings, but should I?

I could decide for myself like a real adult, I could speak to people in my life that have always given me good advice, but instead I want to ask a bunch of anonymously-voting TMW players because WHY NOT THAT'S WHAT OFFTOPIC IS FOR.

Honestly who cares about you all. I only need Prsm's validation.

I hate Apple but yeah If you are going for a tablet you're better off with an iPad because only a small portion of android apps are optimized for tablets so you'd have to use portrait mode in some apps (normal phone UI but magnified to fill the screen), which is annoying if you attach a keyboard case.
You might want to consider a Thinkpad if you don't mind the extra heft

You're tapping into your savings to play d&d so no. Earn the money, save plenty of it and if you have enough for chilling use that.

You still take notes at the university anyway. If not rote memory is good for you.

Edit: Also Archios says you can't play tmw on an iOS...
