Licensing question

Hi there.

I don't know exactly what this form is. Answering the CAPTCHA for registration had me look up the name of the Lumberjack in Hurnscrald. I found out it is Jack.

However, I am a game developer of sorts. I'm working on a multiplayer wizard/creature tower defense game. I was just fooling around with this [viewtopic.php?f=36&t=14884&start=75] tile set, but I think I have a decently plan for actually going through with a build. I was wondering who I would speak to about permissions? Or what sort of License is the artwork in this thread under?

Thank you.

Alex

Hello, Alex

Welcome to The Mana World Forums.

All our assets are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), version 2 or later, an OSI Approved license.

Some tilesets and art are also available under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) version 3.0, which is not an OSI-approved license, but is considered a Free License by FSF.

The specific, if a piece of artwork is also under CC-BY-SA or only under GPL, can be found on LICENSE file, available on our client data repositories.

If you look earlier at this thread, you'll find the GPL 2 tag.
In case you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Keep in mind GPL is also a ShareAlike license; This means you cannot sublicense it, and the final project must be under the same or similar license. The FSF link will show you license compatibility if you have doubts regarding this aspect.

The default licence for art specifically is CC BY-SA 3.0

Says the guy who is always at the crypt :alt-7:

(Sorry, could not resist the joke)

But indeed, the correct would be to open a new topic. Unless it is a discussion about this tileset, which I don't remember if it is present as this or not on the new server.
