What is the least and the most White Furs you've needed for Agostine, for him to make you the Winter Gloves?
I forget my fastest over the years, but so far, my slowest is 103. Now to count for the boots 
It was 24 for the boots. So in total, for this character it was 127 furs, which I must say is the longest I've ever had so far. 
I think Agostine has been lying to us and is secretly reselling the "bad" furs on the Nivalis black market.

Same for Alan/Jack, they break the wood.

Agostine ripped more than 60 furs the first time I've made that quest.
The following attempts were made with white fur coming from mogguns and he ripped only less than 30.

One try was 8 furs for the gloves and 7 for the boots then various tries on other chars ranged from 20-40 and yesterday i got a lucky shot on one char and got the boots on first try.
1 try for boots is incredible. I had terrible luck with Ledmitz the first time. I remember going over 200 fur for the first item I got there. Since then it's been way better though. I prob have had a couple in the 20 some range before, but IDR.
