All direct message tabs, Party and Guild tabs highlight by default already. Highlight means that you get a sound notification whenever a new line appears there (and you are either in another tab or have MV minimised).

Are you not afraid it will get pretty noisy sometimes? In any case, there should be a quick way to turn this on/off.

Don't `/enablehighlight` work? aka. right click > enable highlight?

It does, but I got tired of doing it on every connect. So, it's already patched locally. This is just a poll to see if it goes into ManaVerse or is left in my own branch.

That would be better as an option when you right-click on these chat tabs. This way this setting would be saved and won't change our current behavior for other players.
