as it will be by not having classes

you gotta do something new both with or without classes... classless system is as much a tried and tested formula as is a class based one.
anyway, I just said I think classes are quite fun. look at PnP RPG, (that are obviouysly focused on roleplay), even the most roleplay-non-hack-and-slash oriented got some kind of prechosen specialization, Vampire got the clans, D&D got actual classes(well, this one IS an almost pure hack and slash) and so on...
Even in real life (now this one will be a REALLY bad analogy, but sounded sooo nice

), like professions and the like, I would be a Scientist class, since I am graduating in Physics (told ya

).
Not to mention that classes are quite atractive, specially if you got the four basic ones plus little in-betweens (too many and you get repetitions), most people I know do prefer classes! I know, I know, you know lots of people who doesn't, that's relative

, how about a google search for successful games? Even Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) got classes.
Get this example of a non-class system problem: I am really fond to paladins, and I will probably create a character with melee and some healing skills, but in a classless system he will still be a generic guy with melee and healing skills! A paladin is much, much more than that! His the personification of good, a character of imponence. With this generic guy I'll have to content with my imagination, though I've got plenty of it, it will be boring, 'cause I'll be playing alone, no ones sharing of my knowledge that my guy is a paladin, everyone, but me, will look at him as a generic guy!!!:(
Classes opens lots of room for stories and specially (that one you can't deny) game ambientalization and world conception!
I'm sure there's agurments to defend a classless system, I just think it should be at least polled and discussed! c'mon, that's a big deal.
