Powerups?

Post by Bear » 29 Dec 2004, 09:21

If anyone has played Ragnarok Online, you should be familiar with their Card system, as with amyn other games as well. I propose that we start thinking about OUR powerups, if their item related or theyr just quests.

Items which enhance equipment would be great, these items could be something like "Vials of Liquified Mana", each containing properties to enhance the equipment, allowing people to have better, uniqe equipment. I think this would be great for TMW :)

I didn't say I don't like them, I'm only saying that it's better to define the qequipment system first of all, then think about everything else. Without equipment system we can't have cards

I was thinking that players should be able to enchant weapons, ie. to imbue them with mana.. Smiths and magical smiths? Just an idea though..

The FFVIII System would perhaps make the line between mages and warriors too thin for an MMORPG..?

Enchant

I think that weapon enhance (with blacksmiths), and magical enhcantament (with enchanters/alchemists) should be very fine.

If you want to check, I've framed some basic ideas for the upgrading of weapons and for weapons with multiple uses. You can find all this on the Wiki under Game Systems > Equipment System
http://themanaworld.sourceforge.net/wik ... mentSystem

Also, each element has a spell that will imbue weapons with the elements for a certain length of time. you can check this out at:
http://themanaworld.sourceforge.net/wiki/?MagicSystem
The Mana World System Coordinator.
View the Systems
So what does the systems coordinator actually do? My job is to take your ideas for TMW and build them into working aspects of gameplay that can be implemented by the artists and programmers. If there's anything you think we can do better or differently, let me know.
