0.0.24 in Ubuntu

Post by Tacitus » 15 Jan 2008, 05:58

Version 0.0.24 was released and uploaded to Debian after the Debian Import Freeze took effect in Ubuntu. However, I've filed a sync request for the package, which has already been approved, meaning that 0.0.24 will be shipped in the next release of Ubuntu, 8.04 Hardy. However, that isn't much use to people using the current release 7.10, now is it? After the sync has taken place (it should happen in a matter of hours), I'll file a backport request. This means that if you have the backport repository enabled in Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy), you should see the updated 0.0.24 client available for upgrade hopefully in the next week or so.

Thanks,

Well, this is nice :) but. Is it a specific backport repository?
I don't really know what is a backport repository. (I just know it's not official, not supported but it gives you more software or higher versions.)

But. what is the url to this backport repository?
And how can I add/enable it?

Thank you :)

He means gutsy-backports, which can be enabled in Synaptic by checking:

Settings -> Repositories -> Updates -> Unsupported updates (gutsy-backports)

However, as of now there is no new version of TMW in gutsy-backports yet.
