This thread is actually quite serious - since I am quite fond to the wipe idea, but I don't want you to loose all "rare" items.
Regards.
It's been two weeks since you started this thread. During that time, people have been playing the game. As a result, a person may no longer *have* what was his/her "most valuable item" at the time they posted. Or he/she may have acquired a new "most valuable item".
I think you're doing it backwards. If you're going to do a wipe, then just do it, but keep a backup copy of everyone's inventory. Then, open up a thread where a person can request the restoration of an item that was in his/her inventory at the time of the wipe. That way you won't be trying to hit a moving target.
One final note: If there's going to be a wipe, THEN GO AHEAD AND DO IT. This business of telling us that you're *thinking* about a wipe, but leaving the matter hanging, is downright sadistic.

Most valuable items are usually not aquired everyday, and mind the "edit" button we have, it happens to be underappreciated.

If thinking before doing something, especialy an action that is controversial and will have large impact on the community is sadistic, then I am definately a violent sado.

That varies. For the "oldtimers" that is probably quite true. For the relative newcomers, it's an entirely different matter. As for the edit - yes, that would work, provided that the person remembered that he/she needed to do so. Which he/she may not, given the span of time involved.

*Thinking* carefully before deciding to perform such an action is commendable. Repeatedly reminding us that such a decision is pending, without ever actually deciding, is not. It's frustrating to not know whether or not the effort being put into developing a character will be wiped away at some point in the near future.

I was suggesting an alternate course of action. One that wouldn't have required creating the uncertainty mentioned above. One that would, in my opinion, have provided a better way of dealing with the issue. Since you choose to see such suggestions as personal attacks, I'll refrain from making any such suggestions in the future.

It is technicaly not possible to do what you were suggesting. And yes, the wipe issue is pending because of the deeper consideration, however I am ego and evil, therefore I do expect players to appreciate the fact I am asking them for input before taking any steps, instead just discuss the decision on some closed developers forum, make it and show you a middle finger with attitude "the decision has been made, take it or leave it, we don't care".
Regards.
