We have some players using bots and macros! It helps them get XP quickly and hence they level up faster as compared to other players! They dont even have to be present to train! while the honest players have to toil hard to level up!

Shouldnt this unethical malpractice be stopped!

Is it even possible to stop botting in an open source game?

Though the screen shot doesn't prove anything...
I mean look at this guy!!! Just check it out yourself!! If you just check it out yourself you'll see he is a bot!
Sometimes he moderates the screen and then when something goes wrong for him he turns back into
a player!!!

Its not possible to stop it completely. But with the support of players, others can be and should be made to play honestly. The GM can take a look at the complaints from the players.
The players who are using bots should be given warnings or even booted out if necessary. Its not the question of open-source or free! Its the question of supporting or not supporting unethical practices.

But hey, it's not such a bad thing! I spent ages just drop stealing from thm and made a fortune It's not like they mind or anything!

But seriously, we're supposed to treat the eAthena version as a client test not a serious game aren't we?

So you wouldn't mind spammers, bots, abuser, drop stealers, monster stealers, and
hackers running around that server? Oh sure we should just relax and have them running around!
Let's not take this seriously at all! I mean it's just hackers and some other players doing that stuff I'm
sure it wouldn't be such a big deal!

I never said such a thing. I just said we shouldn't overreact to this sort of thing. OK, spammers and abusers are ruining the game for other people and should be stopped, but bots aren't really doing much harm. They would be if the game was to be taken seriously and they certainly shall be dealt with more harshly on TMWServ, because they ruin the economy of the game. But the economy of the game doesn't really matter at the moment because it'll all be wiped anyway when we move to our own server.

As for drop stealers and monster stealers, yes they are annoying but they aren't actually breaking the rules.

Yep, Kevinhbo's a botter... I see him doing it all the time

How else can he walk back and forth and stop in the same place, pausing and resuming his walks at exactly the same place, attacking everything around him for 6 hours straight?

I think you need to relax just a bit. So someone told you to get a life. Wonderful -- that's there opinion and they are entitled to it. Getting worked up over someone who's being ignorant isn't going to help you feel any better and they'll have the satisfaction of know that they got under your skin.

I don't like this "nothing really matters because everything will be gone when the new server comes" attitude. It reminds me of when people say that nothing in life matters because we will all die anyway. True, we will die, but that doesn't mean that nothing in life is important.

From a developing perspective, the TMWServ is of course very real and should be focussed on. However, from a player perspective, TMWServ does not exist until it comes. From a player perspective, the game as it is now is what is real and important. Please keep that in mind.

Actually I don't think they can really ruin the economy at all right now. All they ever do is gain levels.
This is how they enjoy the game, by botting and gaining levels. I personally don't find that enjoying, I prefer to interact with players. They will never really get into the game probably, just bot until they reach a level where bats won't help them level, and then will stop playing.

Personally, I think they looks good in the game, they make it seem like there are other people who fight the bats and keep the bat population down. Like there are always some people there. It's like NPC's, but we didn't have to set them up.

How exactly do they hurt you players? Is it damaging your character some how? Are they spamming your trade/chat? Do they make it impossible to level?
I don't get why us players should fuss over it, if anyone, Platyna should be upset for wasting her bandwidth.
