manabay [CLOSED]

Post by Quiche_on_a_leash »

Hi,

I'm proud to present to everyone manabay.

manabay is a auction website for items from The Mana World, which you can bid GP for.

I've tried to make it clean and easy to use.

Wow, I really can't think of any thing else to say really, just take a look for yourself. :)

(Remember, once an auction ends it's up to the seller and buyer to contact each other and arrange the trade.)

I still have stuff to do on it, but it's usable and stable now.
TODO:
- Ability to edit/remove auctions after they have been started.
- Options on how you want to view the auction list. (in categories etc)
- Search for items in autions.
- Seller/buyer feeback stuff.
- 'Item wanted' feature.
- Watch auction.
- Email stuff.
- Improve the view auction page.

(btw I wrote this of my own accord, it's not official.)

I would like to report a bug:

I get this bug: "Now come on, that's a bit big now isn't it?"

I am trying to sell 4773 apples.. but when I enter the 'Starting price (GP):' I get that message ;) (I wanted 2000000 for min. price... it's my choice right?)

hope it will get fixed soon.

Okay, the maximum starting price is now 10m.
(And the maximum reserve and buy out price is 100m.)

(I did wonder if it was set too low for the current economy myself.)

Also, the seller description box is just for any additional comment you want to make, you don't need to put the items actual description in it, that information is displayed for you.
When I redesign the sell page I'll make that a bit more obvious.

You should add a cap on how many auctions you can have up at once.

Yup that's a good idea.
So now the maximum active auctions you can have at once is 10.
I also added a view counter to auctions and the ability to see someone's auctions via their user page.

Edit:
Main page now has a random auction too.
I don't know if will people like that, or if it destroys my nice and clean index page.

Edit2:
Sellers can now end auctions at any time, provided they accept the highest bid (if any) as the sale price.
You can now ask the seller questions.
Different button/text field look.

Edit3:
UTF8 support
Images that needed dyeing, are dyed.
One or two stupid fixes.
Doesn't show closed auctions by default.

Just FYI: There are multiple typos on the login error page

One typo and a broken function, but they are now fixed.

Also, not many people are bidding on items, so this idea isn't really working.

It just requires some critical mass to take off.

Don't give up. It does have the potential.

I think the problem is that the market prices are fluctuating too much (dropping mostly) at the moment. Also most of the sellers aren't listing at auction prices but best selling price or more. Right now There is so much money in the game and so little to spend it on.

Now that we have no active money sink in the game I expect the prices to raise again. I also expect (or rather I am wishing for) some trading of herbs and health potions.

Herb trading is going on, and raising prices (mostly of competing food items) will encourage potion buying.
