A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Hi Everyone!
I was looking on Google for necklaces, so I could get an idea.
I hope you like it.
Please tell me if it needs to be fixed up!

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
It's a bit small. Try focusing more on the heart and less on the chain.
Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
IMO the chain should be closed, like this:

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Much better does not still equal good or even decent.
Although with this rate of improvement those steps are not too far away.
And yes, small things and fine details are the absolute ultimate hardest thing in pixel art.

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
The ruby could still be a bit bigger, it is hardly noticable.

*sigh*
Here's how it's done, kids:
(Hint - caustics and refraction are what make pixelled glass or crystals look like what they are. They'll generally concentrate a weaker mote of light in the opposite corner of the primary specular highlight. Whether it's 'technically' correct for the lighting schema, it's generally 'the right thing to do' when working on small pixel art, because it's what been traditionally done even in the best of games.)

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Here is your version of my necklace.
I think I should of made the heart smaller...

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Any amulet is too small to be shown on the playerset. Amulets, just like jewelry in Seiken Densetsu 3, should only appear in the inventory UI.Dimond wrote:Here is your version of my necklace.

So don't even try - there aren't enough pixels to draw that, no matter how good the artist is. I wasn't assuming you were - certainly not after seeing you draw the back of the chain.
Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Yes, definitely an inventory icon. Also could and already should go into the content.
It's great to have you around as a tutor/mentor and commentator, Jetryl. Should I come hang around your neighborhood in the Allacrost project too?

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
Well I disagree, we surely should make it visible. And Dimond's drawing is very nice. And I may even bear to listen to rap to get it done.
Regards.

I think we should treat it as an abstractPlatyna wrote:Well I disagree, we surely should make it visible. And Dimond's drawing is very nice. And I may even bear to listen to rap to get it done.

Jetryl- the outline on the necklace seems like a little much

Re: A Heart Gold Ruby Necklace
How about keeping this one abstract and making an over-sized one for Platyna?
