Critical damage

I have a few questions in regards to critical damage by creatures.

First off, what's the percentage chance of a creature gaining a critical hit?

how much more damage does it do? Does it ignore both vitality and armour, or is it mitigated by one or both?

does things like agility and dex help off set the chances?

The only reason I ask is due to the regularity it appeared to happen when I fell to a certain hit point area. It was explained that critical damage isn't shown yet but will in the next version of TMW, which I can accept, I can accept the huge amounts that come off, I just wish to understand how it works, and if others notice the same then they too can see how it works later on with minimum grumblings. Thanks guys can't wait for the next version!

First off, the following information applies to the current (eAthena based) server. I have no clue what the devs intend for the new (TMWserv) server.

Critical hits from a given monster type will always do the same amount of damage, regardless of your equipment and vitality. For instance, Bats always do 11 on a critical hit, IIRC. This is the calculated "Maximum Damage" that the monster can deliver, based on its stats.

The probability of a monster doing a critical hit is primarily governed by the Luck of that monster versus your Luck. Increasing Luck would decrease the number of critical hits you take, but most players choose to increase other stats before Luck (Vitality to increase HP and regeneration rate, Dexterity to increase attack accuracy and bow damage, etc). Other than its effect on criticals and evasion rates, Luck doesn't play much of a role in the game at present.
