What is gross is the initial response Foxconn gave to the inquiry about the issue.

Actually why the heck should they even care? Their revenue comes from Windows users pretty majorly.

If you want to have a moral victory, go and improve the open source alternatives to the point where they actually have a viable market segment. Actually booting on, operating on and fully supporting the machine is a good selling point for most consumers out there. They don't really care how it is done as long as they can achieve what they want to achieve.

And yes, I do know it has a lot to do with market inertia and corporate entities not opening up specifications for hardware.
