Nicknames: History and Reason

All the different people and different nicknames made me wonder... Why? Why this name, what does it mean, what's the history behind it and the reason to use it and "live" with it and be known and recognized by it. Please, feel free to share it with everyone.

OK, I'll start:

The nickname and username SOLO doesn't have anything to do with the character Han Solo from Starwars. If i was to name my character after my favorite character from that movie, it would have to be Darth Vader, but until TMW creates a long, black cape as an item, SOLO will do. The name came after i decided to delete my previous character, with my own name, to which not many people seemed to pay attention to, even when i asked for help, or info. So i decided to go... solo. Not that i ignore people or deny them help, it was just a temporary state of mind, and now i enjoy helping "noobs" as much as i can, and also do countdowns when i drop tank-shirts around them. It feels good. I could not go around ignoring people, because when i created SOLO i got plenty of help, and to those who helped me, i give many thanks and you will not be forgotten.

PS: To those who did help my previous character, you'll always be my loyal friends as well. :)

by maimere
Maimere is my last name. I use it as nickname 'cos I don't know anyone else who has the same last name. It comes from the italian last name Maimeri.

About my characters' names... "Symarip" and "Laurel Aitken" are jamaican reggae musicians. ^^

my character's name, spei, is a short version of my username, speitzer. btw- it's pronounced "spy-tzer" as you would pronounce a german name. speitzer is just a nickname i created for my online personas in my german class in high school :) i've only met one actual person with this name and it's the only use besides my own that i've seen it with so i just thought it'd be unique and fun enough to use for my username.

Dafni (daphne) in greek mythology was a beautiful woman hunting in the woods. Artemis the goddes of hunting whom the woods belong to, got annoyed of having someone invade her area. Dafni dedicated her whole time there in isolation and the goddess saw that it was her only preocupation and she then became friends with Dafni.
Another god, Apollo noticed Dafni at one moment and got in love with her. Dafni though she didnt, she wanted to remain pure and wild, she tried to hide and escape from him.
So she asked the help of her father Pinios who was the river in that forest. And he transformed her into a tree laurer. And she was glad to remain always in the woods the place she loved.
Apollo got depressed by loosing her and took some of her leaves and made a crown of them and put it in his head, in order to remember her.. And after that people of that time celebrated the winner of the games with laurer crowns...

Death boy is from the novel's "The Great and Secret Show" and "Everville", he is the one that attracts spirits to him and they do his bidding, (he controls them better in Everville). I thought that that was cool and and the name itself is rather cool.

Superkoop: My last name is Koopman, so it would be simple for me to call myself superman, but that's boring, so I dubbed myself superkoop. It also spawned from lots of people calling me koop, and so super + koop pretty much defines me. 8)

Xaru: This is about as random as it goes, I was sitting there, and I wanted something short, and with an x in it, so I wrote Xaru.

1991 : a Fly simulator was one of the first games I did ever try, on those days the options where very limited so the game just allowed you to pick one name from a list and the last one was "Trozz"

Later on, to add my name to the new games (like the first DOS version of prince of persia) I added "Axl" (from Alex)

so I've been using Axltrozz since then.

by Dimond
Well I came up with the name from a package I ordered.
On the box it said "Diamond" and so I thought why not name my character Dimond? :)
Actually what happened was I though diamond was spelled dimond but uh.. that doesn't matter!
I mean it looks nice without the "a" in it.
Oh and by the way... my name isn't Garry, Dimund, or Diamond!? OKAY?!
