Talking English In Public Areas!

Post by Armadeus »

Speak English on public chat.

This rule was made not to long ago, the rules are you're suppose to speak english when in public areas.

E.g: Places where 5+ people are gathering in the same spot.

A lot of people don't go by the rule but should be, Follow this rule and you'll be okay, Well, follow the other forum/In game rules also.

But as long as you follow the Speak English rule, that's one less chance of getting in trouble, People say they don't know english, but everyone on here knows some sort of english.

~Regards, Damis.

I'm Spanish, and I try to speak in English always. Go talk in your language to the desert, where no where should be.

Public is where everyone can hear you, if you're in an area talking another language and I can hear you, it's public.

then, we cannot use other language.
if we dont know words in English, what do we do?
the language that a partner can understand is the most suitable for talking.

Actually 'public' areas are the towns and any place there are a large group of people gathering...

Would be nice if the rule was respected a little more...

Sea Slimes have like 7+ people gathering, so it's pretty public.

To be honest "late nights" (sometime after 02:00 UTC) have almost always belonged to non-Anglos and I am pretty tolerant of Spanish, Portuguese and French speaking players that have groups they roam in, sometimes joining them and not complaining about their language. I simply tell them I only understand English and we get along well. I do agree with Dyna about public gatherings and in towns that we shouldn't be afraid to request they speak English in towns and public areas. If there "happens to be" a de facto public gathering because everyone is grinding monsters in the same area, I could see conflict over what defines a "public" area and 95% of the time, the non-Anglo speakers will comply to a request to speak English or use whisper. Outside of that, it is a gray area where "ignore" will handle "problem players".
