I've been dreaming of having ladders for 1on1, 2on2, 3on3 and 5on5 battles in our game.

The ELO system works remarkably well for non-league individual and team sports to establish who is the best.

This in mind we could make it so that you can only be a member of one team and a team could only have a max of 5 members.

That could be a problem if someone wanted to change teams later, or if more than five people wanted to team up.

You can leave teams. Also limiting to 5 would make 5on5 the main event and the rest good training and casual events.

Implementing 1on1 first and then seeing about the rest is the way to go here.
