Crouching Man

I don't like the way the people don't bend over to pick things up :-p

So I drew a man who crouches as an example; he needs a bit of a cleanup - but it was just a quick knock-up

Any advice?

It's a nice idea, but we can't add more frames to the playerset because it would mean adding more frames to all the equipment and even more work every time we want to add equipment - it simply isn't worth the amount of work it would take. Don't be discouraged though! :D

The top half is entirely ripped from the walking character - so clothes only have to be moved.

The lower half however, would have to be re-done

Though we do not need a crouching animation, the playerset is indeed one of the things we really need to finish.

I do support all playerset related development.

By finish what do you mean? I thought we were not allowing any additional frames. Do you mean making it look less foetus like? Possibly a bit more detailed?

What Rotonen means is that the playerset is still missing a slashing and a more versatile stabbing animation so that we can implement more weapons like swords, axes, polearms and so on. New frames for these animations are more than justified.

Good point. I remember the discussions about that now.

Once again, I'd like to bring up splitting the player sprite into legs, torso and head pieces. That way we can reduce total art needed and have more freedom in animations. Making the head separate will allow us to animate the face more without duplicating everything else.

I do want a crouching animation in the future, would be very useful for things like picking up items, collecting herbs, etc

I'd like the crouching animation, too,
as I'd like to have jumping, running, swimming and crawling frames, but I know the playerset development is made slowly, and I'll care most about the slashing animation currently being developed.
