Please wear green

In Iran, president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was re-elected, despite heavy opposition. This has led the people of Iran to believe that he has stuffed the ballot boxes. Indeed, the Guardian Council there has found 3 million stuffed ballots in their partial recount, out of the 11 million ballot difference in the "landslide victory". The people of Iran are currently protesting against the government, who is currently refusing to do a re-vote. A few days after the protests started, the Supreme Leader of Iran stated that anymore protests would be illegal, and would be broken up. This then led the government militias, the basiji, to go in and try and break up the crowds. In their attempts to break the crowds, they injured and killed many peaceful demonstrators. This has created martyrs in their movement, and has inspired many citizens to protest. Martyrs are very important in the Shia faction of Islam. Not only that, but basiji have been reported to have beaten old women, and raid people's homes. This has led to much anger about the government, and has led to people shouting, "death to the dictator" in the streets. By the dictator, one can assume they are referring to the Supreme Leader or Ahmadinejad. Now, the protests have shifted from a simple re-vote, to a protest against the current government of Iran.
The Iranian government not only destroyed their rights as humans by firing upon peaceful demonstrators, but they've beaten old women down! Please, I don't care what you say, just wear green in game. If I know that I've helped one Iranian know that people outside of Iran support them in their fight against tyranny, then I'll be content. This may be an obscure game, but every voice counts, no matter how small.

Why wearing green? What does it change? (Well i wear green but that's because I like the color)
Is it like wearing a rainbowflag or posting "free tibet" in the siganture? Just to show you support the people?
How long is that green-thing going?

Ohhh ...well well well ... ... small history lesson, again ?
Some "marvel occidental democracies" (U.S.A, France, ...) already put such a mess in Iran while promoting their ideal-model (Shah, police tortures, shielding Mollahs ... then support to Irak, Gulf War, ... remember the news ? ok ...) !
And one more time, we all feel now the urge to participate to some new
"support The Good against The Bad" killing entertainment to promote a new smart big idea :
GREEN !
So let us all wear green to show our love of peace/children/old women/freedom and democracy will survive !

PS: "Demos-kracia" was a Greek achievement, then came "TV-news" ....not exactly the same thing ...

That was the work of my ancestors. This is our chance to set things right. If you truly feel remorse for our past actions, then you would support the Iranian protesters, as well.

I sense sarcasm.

That's very disrespectful to the people in Iran who are dying while peacefully protesting, just trying to reclaim their freedom.
Say what you want, but it pisses me off when arrogant assholes try to bogart stuff like this by playing it off as unimportant! Their government firing on peaceful protesters is a blatant disregard for human rights, and you should go to hell for saying such a thing. If you truly believed in democracy, then you would support the Iranian protesters.
Note:
Green is the color of the opposition in the Iranian election, the ones who lost the "landslide election". The same opposition party that is trying to reform the country into a full-on democracy. And because of this, green has become one of the symbols of this reform movement.

1-GREEK people invented democracy.
2-WE (French people) cut our King "Louis-16" neck in public place, all by our own using Mister GUILLOTIN's invention : "la guillotine" to gain democracy in our country !
3-YOU treat "assholes" people you don't know who disagree with your "democratics" views.
Conclusions :
- My elders gave "sweat, blood and tears" to achieve community freedom ... since then I dress myself IRL and in game as I wish to
- basic freedoms of though and speech aren't yet yours obviously ...
- stop dragging others in "hell" if they feel free enough to comment your claims about "promotional democracy" : YOU DON'T GET IT(sorry) !
PS :
Since I already witnessed you promoting "English-only" in this forum, I'm very doubtful about your "wear green" new obsession ...

Sorry if I gave your that feeling ... "Le droit des peuples àdisposer d'eux-mêmes" induce victory against tyranny to belong to people who gained it ...
I didn't said/suggested/imposed anything else ... sorry if I slipped out of my point which was "democracy".

And then instituted your idea of democracy where everyone who disagreed with the leaders of the revolution was labled a traitor and also beheaded?

That's the biggest red herring I've ever seen.
1. This is about helping to encourage the Iranians.
2. I never said, "wear green or be banned", and I never worded it in my post as if it was mandatory. Go put on your tin foil hat and learn how to freaking read.
3. Quit putting words in my mouth as if I'm trying to say that Americans invented democracy. I never made such accusations, and whether or not you believe in democracy doesn't matter. What matters, is that the Iranians
do.
4. I don't care about what the French are doing or how "heroic" they were, but I do care about how the Iranian people are being treated by their government. Just today, a protest rally was broken up by riot police who started beating everyone in the crowd they could with clubs.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Introducing your own perception of Iran politics in the forum is mutating into pathetic circus :
kr0n05931 wrote:That's the biggest red herring I've ever seen.
1-Switch CBS-News channel OFF (that's the most important thing to do)
2-Open an history book (the big one on the top of the book-shelf)
3-Read some more (not the central pictures ! no !)
4-Make yourself your own convictions about democracy/your country/US medias/TV/Mickey Mouse .....
Then you can come back and explain to all TMW geeks :
how much
WEAR GREEN is the big idea
! YEAH !
how hard is was to manage to switch on

the
light bulb inside your head,
to finally spread light on the masses

each time you open your mouth ...
PS : please don't rush to answer this post, take a little time to read and think ...

Why read your posts anymore, when you clearly skim through mine? Apparently, your argument has run out of juice, so now you have to just be a troll. Since this conversation with you is going nowhere, I'm not going to reply to your posts anymore.
Pathetic.
Anyways, please keep wearing green! It's good to see people who support peaceful demonstrations in Iran.

Holding back your posts (until you set your mind clear enough) is probably your best choice now.
